Play in steering rack inner joint(s)

I personally found the Bergen tool that others hadn't had any luck with above absolutely fine, and its pretty cheap. What works for some doesn't for all though admittedly. Either way the job isn't too major so something you could tackle yourself if you have a bit of mechanical experience.

    Fitting Scorpion cat back

Just fitted a Scorpion system to my 197 this morning, it was very straightforward and took me approx 1 hour 45 minutes. As above, cut 70mm back from the edge of the weld for the lambda sensor, the rest is pretty easy. My exhaust rubbers were all spot on, so I just reused everything, I didn't...

    Kangaroo issue

Can't answer about the noises as I can't imagine what you mean. Cold start running is a bit crap in these cars, if it bothers you a remap will sort it and iron out the flat spot in low revs too at the same time.

    Roof bar feet size?

Can you post a photo? I sell Thule in my shop so should be able to help.

    Roof bar feet size?

Hi, You will need bars which will measure 108cm and be either the SquareBar or WingBar, then you will need the 751 Foot Pack and you will need a 3091 Fitting Kit to make it fit the Clio roof. Here is the user manual for the fitting kit to show you how it fits - CLICK Hope that helps.

    Creaking noise

Put your ear near the suspension top mounts, that's the only thing I could think it might be, if it is you could possibly spray some silicone lube around it and see if it cures it maybe?

    200: Aftermarket or OEM airfilter

Aftermarket panel filters are always worth using IMO. I bought a Ramair filter a while back, it was on offer on eBay for £20 brand new. A genuine Renault replacement with a much shorter lifespan could cost nearly that! And aftermarket filters do increase noise a little...

Something to liven up my 197 for £200-300 or less!

Really helpful information there, thanks very much, I have a measurement to work with on the mid section as Scorpion suggest cutting at a specific point, but even if that means the mid section is useless I can still save the rear box. Thanks again, very helpful post.

Something to liven up my 197 for £200-300 or less!

I hope not, my mate called me about an hour ago to tell me he snapped a stud in the manifold on his Fiesta ST150, I opted to stay away from it, ball ache comes to mind! The 197 system should come off easy, I've bought myself an exhaust pipe cutter to help with the job, should make lighter work...

Something to liven up my 197 for £200-300 or less!

To follow up on this, I have just ordered a Scorpion cat back exhaust system. Looking forward to getting it fitted, if I get the time it'll be on over the weekend, but we will see! Got it for a £385 delivered (yes I blew my budget, but who doesn't!) Which is a pretty good price. The company I...

    Interior rattles list!

It only appears to vibrate when the visor is down and sliding cover closed for me, haven't tried the passenger side though!

    Lights

Fair enough on the comments with Osram, certainly I would agree with the lifetime on dipped beam bulbs, I sell them on a daily basis so I know their lifetime. I've always had a good experience with the Osram LED bulbs and almost no customers have troubles with them but they do occasionally fail...

    Lights

I have the Osram Diadem Chrome in my 197, I also have Osram LEDriving Sidelights. Your number plate bulbs should be 501 style or W5W in other words. This is the same as all your interior bulbs and also your front sidelights. I've been very happy with the bulbs and would happily recommend them...

Something to liven up my 197 for £200-300 or less!

Good ideas chaps, paintwork is excellent on the car so although it would get me a lot of benefits I'm not too sure it will keep me interested. Lightweight crank pulley sounds great however although I'm competent with tools I refuse to touch the timing on these cars, don't have a great deal of...

Something to liven up my 197 for £200-300 or less!

Haha no worries, yeah exhaust or remap is something that interests me. I live very close to KTEC but I seem to hear mixed views about them. They offer a remap for around £300 as far as I remember.

Something to liven up my 197 for £200-300 or less!

Some good ideas chaps. Sevenfourate, would you elaborate on the redline gear oil? I've changed mine for factory elf fluid on two occasions and although it improves the feel of gear changes it never irons out some of the notchy behaviour when the box is cold. Remap is something I had...

    Interior rattles list!

The sliding part of the back of the drivers sun visor to cover the mirror vibrates in mine, very irritating. But only when the visor is down, so I just stick a pair of sunglasses on!

Something to liven up my 197 for £200-300 or less!

Hi All, Looking to give myself a bit more enjoyment from my 197 over the next 6-8 months. I plan to get a different car around this time but will still keep the 197 as my wife will be having it after we sell her 182! In your experience, what can I fit to the 197 to give me the most enjoyment...

    Number Plates

Set 3 for me, although if they aren't reflective they COULD be a problem with MOT/Police. So for that reason I would go with Set 1!

    197 xenon.....?

In my 197 I notice a slight flicker when going over bumps, are you sure the bulb is actually flickering, and it's not the auto levelling trying to compensate for suspension movement? That's what mine is but it may be worth getting someone to watch your headlamps as you drive toward them so you...
