    MTEC Disc Coating

I have rusty rear disc hubs with MTEC coating. Big disappointment! Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk

    And everyone says they're thristy...

And this is all on super unleaded at 8p a litre more... Very high running costs!

    OPTIMAL rear brake discs

I purchased Mtec rear discs and pad and am very happy with them. The coating is a good option (no rusty centres). Good value and fast service.

    RECARO FABRIC from ebay?

Nigel at Intrim in Woking, Surrey did mine. He is local to me - came and removed seat, then 2 days later fitted it with repaired bolster. Good service.

Clio 200 cup dampers on 197

Are you running standard springs, cup or aftermarket? And what's it like please? Thinking of similar on my 197. Thanks.

    Liam's Deep Black 197

Nice car! Re the upper torque mount, was it quite simple to fit? I am thinking about beefing up my engine mounts to protect the flexis on the manifold mainly, and would like to do this upper one myself (no garage, basic tools... Limited skills)

    Terrible dyno result

Yes - agree check the induction. But as previously suggested, if it feels good then don't worry too much. Are you using super unleaded?

    mpg does not =performance

I got 34+ mpg with a full load of camping gear on the way to Silverstone MotoGp a couple of weeks ago (based on the computer). Best consumption seems to be at 62 mph (funny that isn't it as it is 100 kph). Driving gently on short trips and using 6th (early 197 with low gearing), I am showing...

    OE Front brakes

In the end, after questioning the costs, I went with the independent. They use parts from Renault that we all know are cheaper when bought from Brembo. To their credit, they threw in a brake fluid change and aircon service. They also had a nightmare with rusy retaining screws etc. When I do the...

    OE Front brakes

Thanks guys, that is very useful information. Even with my cack handed mechanical skills, I think an hour per side should be enough (although I hear that the pad retaining pins can be tricky). Think I need to call the garage at 8am and have a little word...

    OE Front brakes

How much would you expect to pay for Renault discs and pads on the front of a 197 please? My independent specialist is saying about £400 fitted with VAT, which seems steep to me. I am thinking of pulling the car and going for more performance oriented after market, although the car is standard...

    Advice - recent 197 purchase

Thanks - it's great to be here! I have always liked these cars from a distance, and I love the brio that they seem to have. I understand why people love to improve them! I will check out some of the other great content on here. I used to work on cars a lot when I was younger, but don't have the...

    Advice - recent 197 purchase

The discs have done about 15k miles I think. The fronts have quite deep scoring on the braking surface - as though the pads had lots of grit on them! There still seems to be life left in the pads and the discs - maybe the scoring is related to corrosion if the car was sitting around for a while?

    Advice - recent 197 purchase

Hi, I have just purchased an 07 Clio 197 with 62k miles and a reasonable history. The last couple of years it was owned by a young chap who seemed to do the bare minimum. I don't see any bills for suspension or steering components, except for 2 new road springs. The car drives ok but feels a...
