Theres no point doing this and just turning a blind eye to the problem.... Not to mention by doing this you don't get to enjoy your car properly! Like Paul said try changing the oil first and if that doesn't work then look at getting new synchros or possibly a new gearbox.

I thought fuse as well, but I have just checked the radio fuse under the steering wheel and its fine. Are there any other fuses I should be checking? Do speakers have a separate fuse? Thanks.
