CLIO 197 CUP - Project TF

Just out of interest, are you trail braking into corners? I only ask as having taken my 197 Cup to Brands last month, i was amazed at the front end grip available (standard car on road tyres).

    197 cup or F1

Did you phone up about the Nimbus 197 Cup that i was selling? He was an ex-Porsche/Lotus owner as well iirc. Chassis wise, the R27 + Cup are the same. All Cup's come with the longer ratio box as standard, some later R27's did i think. Comes down to budget, personally, as long as it has...

First taster of RS Clio with £4-£5k?

I paid £2.6k for my Trophy, in September 2010 ;) The 197 Cup then cost me £6.4k, so 4 grand more expensive!! Although to be fair, it isnt really a fair price comparison, the pink shed is a bit of a one-off in the clio world ...

First taster of RS Clio with £4-£5k?

I wouldnt place any money on that tbh!! 197 for show, Trophy for a pro ;) To be fair though, my 197 cup was awesome, just not worth 4 grand more than the pink shed. If i only had room for one car on the drive, 197/200, but with room for daily & a fun car, 1*2 everytime ...

Here we go again! Thinking of selling the 197?

Personally, i found the 350Z to be rather bloated, overweight, not massively fast, thirsty and fairly boring. I also think that once you have had ITB's you will want a similar power delivery again, just amplified. Get an e46 M3 ;) You wont regret it one bit.

200: feel stuck with a car i cant afford!!

Another option would simply be to balance transfer some money into your bank account from one of your credit cards - to ensure that you dont bounce another payment ... Cr4ppy situation to be in tbh, although as Steve says, if you need to move the car quickly, you need to make sure its the...

    197 Cup. Nimbus. Recaros.

Not really, i just prefer my Trophy ... although a more detailed response would be: For me, the best way to describe the 197 is that it is the best bits from a CTR, ie the engine/box, mixed with the best bits from a 182, ie the chuckability, cheapness to run (im getting 32mpg vs 34 in the...

    197 Cup. Nimbus. Recaros.

No idea, its some customer made jobby. Previous owner was on here, but cant find any mention of where he had it done ... Quite impressed with the lack of 'pics' requests of Sarah tbh, very civilised :tongue_smilie: But no, thats all you're getting lol.

    197 Cup. Nimbus. Recaros.

Just got through the 1st tank of fuel. Trip computer said 29.2mpg lol .... although that has included 85% use in the BMW lane of my private road, at a consistent speed of circa 75-90 leptons. However, after hearing that they arent the most accurate & tend to underread, i thought id work it out...

    Vibration through Pedals

Yup, i first thought it only did it at 60-85mph (roughly 3-4k rpm in 6th), but then discovered it also does it at 3-4k rpm when stood still, in neutral. Thinking it could be that Renault didnt put the engine mounts back together properly when doing the gearbox, etc?
  16. sir_dave

    Vibration through Pedals

Nope, no noise, just a vibration through the pedals - no knocks/bangs, etc.

    Vibration through Pedals

Yeah, on the spot, so less likely to be tracking related - although that does need doing as well ...

    Vibration through Pedals

Just checked, seems to do it in neutral as well, so could be engine/revs related - 60-85mph is 3-4k rpm so that figures ... Am going to get new tyres shortly though, so will get the alignment checked as well!

    Vibration through Pedals

Noticed that my recently purchased 197 Cup has quite a bit of vibration through the pedals. Not particularly noticeable at lower speeds, but from 60-85mph its pretty noticeable/irritating. Similar to the feeling you get from unbalanced wheels, but there is no vibration through the steering...

    197 Cup. Nimbus. Recaros.

Cant really comment on that yet, on driven it on the motorway!! On & the 'Fortuna' tyres on the front will no doubt make it understeer like a pig  Will offer some more thoughts on handling once my 4 x Hankook are fitted ...
