Update: The car was a write off. Impact taken up mostly on the passenger side A-pillar so the chasis was twisted. Repairable but not economical. Gutted.

Cheers for that BenW. That gives me a little more hope that the car might not get written off.

One last thing, do the Recaros have built in airbags down the side of them? If they do, they didn't go off in this instance. Only curtain bags this time. Surely a positive thing, right?

No picture I'm afraid, adam. Too dark at the time. Like you, the car wouldn't start. The starter motor turned over but no ignition. Good to know that's a safety feature and not a sign or more severe engine damage.

He did definitely set it off. Glancing impact with tree on left side. Car looked ok-ish but curtain bags seem like an expensive fix. insurance people are in the process of assessing it. Fingers crossed. Does anyone know what speed initiates them?

I got my 200 last Monday. Paid £11,989 for it. Its a 10 plate registered in April '10. I think I got a pretty good deal. Its Albi blue, FF, with recaros, bluetooth, etc, with 16k on the clock. I part/ex my old mini for £4500 and paid the rest up front. Also, its was from a Renault franchise...

Yeah, I never realised how bad it was. Did the best part of 20k miles last year in the Mini, up and down the A1/M1/A34 every weekend. My back and ears took a weekly pounding. I blame run-flats. I also never relaised how poorly damped its was. Still, that's someone elses problem now!

Yeah, it's going to hit my wallet a bit but I try not to think about it too much. Anyway, I much prefer to work in SPG rather than MPG.
