My air cons not working and just got qouted £400 for a new aircon switch and fitting from renualt. Is this normal or am i just tight

When accelerating in any gear at any revs the car is making a sort of squealing/screeching noise, not sure where the problem is coming from can someone help please as i am really starting to worry about this now.

Anyone else have this problem, i clean my wheels and in one or two days they are coverd in brake dust its so annoying. Any solutions??
