    Life after Evo, replacements?

Thinking of a 2k 182 and blowing the rest on an epic spec. But if my 10 years of experience has taught me anything it's that if you want a fast car buy a fast car. Too old and not enough patience anymore for teething issues and unreliability.

    The Clio's replacement...

I went from a 197 to a 265, best decision I ever made. Such a capable, focused performer. Weapon on a car.

    Life after Evo, replacements?

Can be had for 2k, rest of budget spent on upgrades will pitch it against all others on the list easily. MPS seems a good choice but as everyone says I don't think it's particularly exciting enough.

    Life after Evo, replacements?

Problem with the megane is they're all getting on a bit now and have lots of common faults window regs, turbo coolant seal, swivel hubs, radiators, DMFs etc. and they'll only take a safe 260bhp before internals are needed. In comparison the Mazda 3 mps will easily see 320bhp on standard...

    Life after Evo, replacements?

Afternoon everyone. havent shown my face for a while but I retune to pose a question to all the like minded enthusiasts. I'm currently in the process of selling my dream car, mint 400bhp Evo 9, the mrs has forced my hand in the matter in favour of a house. If you ask me her priorities are well...

197: What happened to my Clio???

Has anybody ever come across my old 197 during their travels? I used to keep in touch with the new owner but have since lost contact, he always said he'd join up to the forum. I'd love to know its whereabouts and how she's getting on, coming up to 3 years now since I sold it, crazy. So many new...

    Throttle body kits?

No idea, only know what Matt at TDF told me as he built my kit.

    Throttle body kits?

They run a specific cross brace between the chassis legs, on the road car the slam panel, crash beam and subframe from the support. I do know Catcams do a valve lifter kit which will allow it to rev to 9000rpm! With supporting mods of course.

    Throttle body kits?

I regret never getting a video, unsure of it whereabouts now I always presumed it would find its way back onto the forum at some point?

    Throttle body kits?

Generally speaking there's very limited space between head and slam panel ( which is integral to structure so can't be removed like then mk2 clios ) to fit long trumpets so shorter versions must be fitted which do restrict torque. Going on from there you'll want to run some wild cams to make...

    Fiesta st are very popular.....

I find it difficult to tell the ST3 and normal fiesta apart from a distance, they have such subtle styling for a sports car.

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

They never really had time for the customer based road cars, as anyone who tried to get booked in would tell you. By the end of it Matt was away in different countries every week testing race car setups etc. The last time I saw him he had actually won the contract to develop a new race platform...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

May aswell have just bought a Civic then. I say stick with the F4R and keep it true. Before I sold we ( me and TDF ) were looking at sourcing an R3 exhaust manifold and customising the front of the slam panel to accomodate longer trumpets. This wold have taken me much closer to the 240bhp mark...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Standard exhaust manifold decatted, 2nd decat, yozzasport system. I had the EC1 yes and I believe you are correct it was an SC under the skin. VVT had to be deleted as I went forged high comp pistons with custom deep valve pockets to accommodate very aggressive cams ( The two up from 402s can't...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Sorry for the holy post revival but just been looking through this thread for the first time. The white 197 was my old car and it ran beautifully on ITBs, i did several trackdays with it faultlessly. It was also sold on in perfect working order and I still occassionally speak to new owner who...

    Why Renault?

Bang for buck best way to have fun motoring. Shame about the build quality though.

Buy a Clio 197 and know all about its history first! !

If you do decide to sell up I'd seriously consider a 250. They do everything the Clio does but better. The build quality is on a new level and they appear mostly reliable
