Clio 197 cup speaker upgrade £120???

Best front speakers for £120. Not bothered about stupid amounts of bass. Looking more for sound quality. Already have a kenwood headunit 5x50w. Car is a 2007 Cup

don't worry even with the best speakers you wont get stupid amounts of bass, and sound quality requires more bass than any set of door speakers can provide in reality... the more you spend the less you spend on speakers as part of the budget, allow me to expand....

cheap speakers aren't fine tuned and will work in generally any situation, the more expensive you go the more you have to put into sound deadening, mounting, amplification otherwise you wont get any benefit from them and may as well buy a cheaper set and save the money

if you have 120 quid, id spend 80 quid on speakers and 40 quid on sound deadening, or even better get the doors sound deadened first and you will then find out what your speakers already fitted are actually capable of first, I think you'll be surprised as the factory doors wont have any form of sound deadening other than some basic sheet maybe from the factory

the sound of a speaker is 80% mounting, 20% speaker, poor speaker excellent mounting will sound better than a 1000 quid set of speakers installed in a poor way!

think of it like a car, get a 300bhp engine and put it in a poor chassis, it wont lap a track faster than a 150bhp engine in an awesome chassis

I opted for £17 a pair JVC speakers which are designed as direct replacements for OEM speakers. Clarity and bass ever so slightly improved but as DumDum says, dont expect great waves of bass. Adding another set in the rear (My Full Fat has wiring all ready to go) helped with sound quality as well.

The one thing I always remembered is that most £20-50 speakers are 2 or 3 way jobbies. You already have tweeters in the dash (I guess Cups do but worth checking) and a simple way to not restrict bass was go for a component speaker. Unless you have a pro setup there is no need for another tweeter.
