Shuv + Mini Shuv's other Frenchie track 'weapon'.......

Pleased I spotted this project, great idea to share a track adventure with your son!

Any further updates?

Hi Matt. Yes the car has kept us busy; getting it all ready and prepped. And just this part has been good fun doing together !

Firstly new 3-piece Clutch went in along with new g/box oil - which improved things alot. Old friction plate was starting to break up. So my timing was spot on for a change..... I was so worried how it 'felt' - and about it giving up the ghost.

While we (Ahem....my mechanic !) was there we changed and uprated the dogbone mount to firm things up / aid response etc:

Cobbled together a little helmet holder for the boot:

Then we set about the suspension; adding a set of -35mm lowering springs, some 15mm hubcentric spacers along with new track rod ends and bottom ball joints while it was all apart and easy to renew anyway. We also then had the thing set-up for camber, toe etc on a Hunter Hawkeye.....

We modernised all interior, courtesy and sidelight bulbs - getting rid of the horrid old / yellowy looking items:

I made up a drivers side scuff-guard for the sill:

I've been busy under the hood, modernising, cleaning, adding a few bits of subtle colour etc:

Last week we took delivery of these:

And just today new slider pins, anti vibration rubbers, fitting springs etc etc have arrived along with new fluid. This whole lot will be fitted next payday.

This was the evening i picked it up after springs etc were fitted:

And an arty farty one i took a few days ago locally.......

This was a rear 3/4 view on stock suspension + with standard width track:

And this is now.....

Soon as the brakes are done - i'll be happy mechanically. I'll likely chuck and exhaust and an induction kit on next.....but the main decision is to decide if i 'Clubsport' it with no rear seats or belts and half cage or rear brace bar etc. Or if i go that far, do i then rip out carpet, headlining, door trims etc etc and chuck in a pair of bucket seats and harnesses. All confusing me how far i want to take it at the moment. But need to decide soon !

Cheers for asking.

Great project Shuv, done with your usual attention to detail and thoroughness. Love the way the car sits now.

Looking gooooood!!

How is it driving now?
Has your son had a go?

A couple of thoughts as a regular trackdayer...

I’d be tempted to pop some updates front pads in there, last thing anyone wants is brake fade when you’re hurtling towards a corner!

If harnesses aren’t yet on the cards, a CG lock would be very useful, locking the drivers seatbelt at the base to hold the hips tight. Worth its weight in gold at the track!

Following with interest!

Still here. And 100% will see 'track' action this year. Last year me and the boy just got into too many other things.....

Big week as such this week (For a daily). Mintex discs / pads fitted all around, flew through the 12th MOT running with zero issues [After i realised it was a full 6 months out of date - opps], then went off for machine polishing. I've 'finished it off' this weekend by painting the disc bells with Silver Hammerite, re-doing some underseal with Schutz, 2 coats of heat-proof FKP1000 wax on the wheels and generally sorting a few jobs that Winter weather didn't make possible / enjoyable.....
