LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Not sure it qualifies as 'progress', but I bought some stuff! Also took a few pics of the metal TRW slave which I thought would be useful. It feels nice and weighty, more substantial than the oem plastic Renault one - so I'll hang on to it for if (ok, when! :worried:) the box is next off.

And I've also bought an old S3000 ECU for a bargain price of £9.90 delivered. I've only split it currently and still need to gut it to be an empty shell with only the connectors. I'll then re-pin the SCS Delta adaptor harness to utilise this connection strip (rather than the 3 loose ones it has) and have the cables exiting the S3000 the other side and neatly back in to the Delta. I'll place each ECU side by side (possibly in a carbon box), basically tidy it all up so it looks decent/factory as possible. The p'n'p harness they provide has always looked like a sodding birds nest under the hood, too long and coiled up, no backshells on the plugs either so looks scrappy. I refuse to re-fit it as is!

Good to see you’re putting it back together. I’d thought about building a high comp motor some time ago but didn’t take it any further. Noticed you mention ITBs! I’m able to get complete ITB kits for the 197/200 through my business if you need anything give me a shout. Obviously can do discount for paid members on here.

I'm good for ITB's thanks, well will be soon enough (I bloody hope!!) - I want the Jenvey stuff with cnc manifold for a couple of reasons though, 1 the tract length and shape has been carefully optimised on these engines from years of mk2 development. And 2, I can put them another engine with a manifold change

Made some progress on the wiring, but nothing worth photo'ing and sharing yet, most of it is in ordering bits and drawing it all out correctly. I have however machined out the circuit board and prepped the legs in the back of the Molex triple connector (as they are PCB mount they were 90deg bent). I ordered some 0.63mm and 1.5mm crimp pins which fit great on the legs and so I can then after pinning it all apply some heat shrink over the pins and lastly use some Resintech RT355 epoxy potting compound to keep everything perfectly in place and water tight.
I've also drawn out the pinning for:
--Adding in the Lambda 0-5v output directly to the ECU so I can run closed loop if wanted (I can then via the CAN channel feed this to the AiM for logging and display on the dash).
--Expanded the CAN connection to accommodate plugs for both mapping and an AiM connection together.
--And lastly standalone fuel pump wiring to bypass the Renault UCH.

Including a couple of crimp tools, opting to use circuit breaker fuses, all the wiring and bits and pieces etc etc....cost has (as always) escalated massively for what should have been a 'make the wiring tidy' job!!
But I'm very confident it'll be 1000% neater and more rugged than before! So pending I get this completed to satisfaction I'll be potentially open to making a few to try and recoup some money if anyone else is running a Delta 800?

Christ I can't believe it's been so long (again!) but progress is definitely being made now. The wait has been for the ITB kit and it's been a long time, but it was worth it I'm pleased to say.
Couple of long days and over 600 miles taking the car on the back of a recovery truck which is fast becoming the Clio's 2nd home, but trips to both Pure Motorsport and Pro-Line Motorsport - where it now resides - will see me back on track soon

The car is mostly together now as the pics show, but I need Mitch to finish the car to much higher standards than I am capable of. Plumbing the fuel system, oil system, cooling, throttle pedal, milspec wiring loom & re-locate ecu in car, bonnet catches, bumper catches, plus I'm sure other stuff along the way

Anyway no one wants to hear me waffle on when there's these to look at...........

Awesome news Rich, I had been wondering how things were progressing after the expected dates had come and gone. Very glad it's all back on track, ITB's look fantastic, can't wait to hear them.

Thanks fellas, though I should say I can't take credit for any spanner'ing here, unless that includes rolling the car out the garage bi-monthly, taking a deep inhalation whilst shaking my head, and then pushing it back in :tearsofjoy:

Nick at Pure did the ITB and Rad fitting as it is the first customer car he wanted to ensure all was well, and then straight over to Pro-Line for everything else I've neglected to do basically! For fear of messing up, and for the undeniable truth - I am quite lazy! :confounded:

Hear them o-yes! Though I'm a little nervous of track drive-by limits mind.

Nope that will be done after it's stay at Pro-Line and everything is buttoned up. The plan will be to go to Steve Greenald at Track n Road where my ITB Rallye was done many moons ago!

Go on Rich! This is awesome mate, you came back with a vengeance! Can't wait to hear that beast, so glad you stuck with NA

Cheers guys and yeah it needed to be NA really didn't it :smilingimp: I don't think I'd have been happy with a Meg swapped car, not long term anyway. Although having now had the Mini 6 months I do quite like a bit of boost!

I see you've gone rwd Tom, be interesting to see how it stacks up against the Clio for on track fun. I'd still like some rwd action but it'd need to be a 3rd car really and I just haven't the storage.

Yeah, had an itch and had to scratch it. I'd done the whole hot hatch thing in a car I'd really wanted when I started driving and couldn't have one back then.
No doubt it will be a handfull to drive, especially with everything being done in one go, better power to weight ratio and plenty torque should make it faster on track once my driving has adjusted to the driving style required with that type of car with the driver aids removed too.

I think that's the thing isn't it, new set of rules to drive by with rwd and be a lot of fun in pushing those new boundaries etc. I'll be there one day for sure, but yeah will be a 3rd car so not for the foreseeable. I'm more excited by the Clio than I think I have been the whole time I've owned it presently, so no plans to sell (ever!)
