Lucifers Ultra Red 197

Oh I agree! Really interested to hear what the Cobra is like, my Scorpion system is a good 7-8dB louder than yours...I'm intrigued! Partly to do with running a sports cat I would imagine?
Probably. I only went for sports cat instead of decat as I wanted to be sure I was street legal. I know cars pass MOT with only the pre cat in the manifold but strictly speaking it's not allowed to remove a cat & I just didn't want any hassle. I figured if I replaced the cat as opposed to removing it I'd be covering my backside!

Hey all,

It's been a while since I've updated this.

So what's been happening, well not much

Since the start of the year I've been massively flu'd up and so busy with work that I've been accumulating parts and haven't been able to fit them.

  • My Cup spoiler has been sat waiting in its primer
  • I've bought some grommets to dewiper the rear
  • Bought some tail trims to tide me over until I commit to a full exhaust system
  • 20mm spacers have been sat in bubblewrap

But come Feb it's all picked up again and we're concentrating on getting the car ready for its first track day in April.

I'll add pics later on when I've picked up the small beast, but the Cup Spoiler has been in the shop being sprayed and fitted.

I've also been in contact with demand near Ipswich about a custom exhaust

And I've just been told the car has been given a fresh 12 months on its MOT ticket. Hurrah.

Being delivered on Tuesday is a 200 diffuser, managed to bag one for 70 quid, so we'll see how that fits and looks with the rest of the car.

Also spoke to the body shop about gloss blacking a lot of bits on the car so it should be going back in come March time.

Now where does that leave me, at suspension and wheels. Almost on the verge of pulling the trigger on some Bilsteins, but I do like my cars low and I've been quite impressed with the looks of the SPAX RSX. I have a budget of around 800ish, thoughts?

I've also fallen for a certain set of wheels which I think will look amazing, not for track use though... I'll save the standard wheels for that.

Phew... not much going on then. Will post pics shortly.

re. the suspension, if you can stretch a little more then go for H&R coilovers as they will go as low as Spax but are better quality. Bilstein B14's are very good but it sounds like the rear won't go as low as you'd like.

Quick pics of the new spoiler and also found a moment to whack on the exhaust trims.

They’ll do for the time being until the 200 diffuser is on.

Just need to dewiper and fit the spacers.

Back to looking at cobra exhausts as the custom place came back with a quote of 700 quid!!

spot on..where are you based that you have blue skies??:pav:
nothing but clouds here in Manchester!!

Sunny Peterborough...well it was sunny for 1 day now it’s just grey wet and more grey!

200 Diffuser is on the way, should be delivered this week, with this in mind I’m waiting to pick an exhaust as I’m assuming I’ll need to buy a 200 version now?

Loving the cup spoiler mate. I still can't decide if I'd like a red one on mine though...!

I tried for a custom exhaust too, £850 I was quoted! My Scorpion is brilliant and is still getting comments from people 7 months on!

Are the H&Rs on par with B14s? I'm looking for after I come back from Spa..

Slightly stiffer springs all round and the rear goes lower than the B14s. The H&R's are around £859-£900 though.
I have some B14's for sale. Pm me if you're interested.

So a resonated scorpion is soon to be fitted! Wooop

Excited for a decent soundtrack! And it’ll get through track testing as well!

Just need to pick up a decat to go with it and I’ll be happy!

Also picking up a new camera soon so I can get some decent shots!

New house has meant there has been a bit of delay fitting parts but doesn’t mean they aren’t still coming!

Opened the extreme amount of wrapping on my posted 200 diffuser that I found on Facebook marketplace.

Bought for £75 thinking it’ll need fair bit of work!

Pleasantly surprised!!

Scorpion Cattback also collected and looks in top condition! When the rain settles I’ll get cracking with that! I’ll fit a decat after my snetterton track day just in case!

Keep breezing through the site and forgetting to update my thread!

Well the scorpion catback is on and i'm loving the little bit more noise, although really think I need a decat too.

I've also bought a set of Fifteen52s in white which I believe are from @G8RSH car originally and have gone through another person.

They aren't in the best nick with some severe curbing but with a refurb should come up nicely, although after fitting them and going on a track day i'm umming and arring about keeping them.

Also picked up some anthracite meg 225 wheels which I might favour.

I'll get some pics up later this week.

Bad News time:

This part of the story makes me feel proper gutted.

So...I went to Snetterton on a track day, the car went well although later in the day it did develop a bit of brake judder and now I do feel the rear dragging at times, so I think the rear discs and pads need doing and some meg handbrake springs fitting to be sure.

That wasn't the worst part.

The worst part was my nice new 200 diffuser becoming a molten mess of plastic... unbeknown to me, I didn't realise that 200 diffusers came with metal cone heatshield shrouds within the diffuser.

I fitted the 200 onto my new scorpion cattback but the tips weren't quite long enough, the heat has then destroyed it...i'll take pics too of that...although i'm a bit annoyed with myself about not checking the renault diagram to make sure my bargain 200 diffuser came with everything.

Nevermind...the 197 one is back on!

I'll upload some fresh piccies this week.

Anyone know if you can repair a melted diffuser...
