Interesting "Best of the past v best of today" test in Evo this month. Mk 4 Clio owners might dispute this however. Pitted the Mk3 Clio 200 Cup against today's Peugeot 208 Gti by Peugeot Sport. Both fine hot hatches with the Clio described as "one of the all-time greats regardless of genre or price. Or indeed, age". Clio out pointed the Pug & won the test!

I cancelled my Evo sub a while ago, but this article would have been good to read. Great to hear the mk3 is still getting plenty of praise, even up against the 'new blood'

Will have to see if I can find the mag and have a read.. when it’s classed as one of the best hatches always makes me wonder should I garage mine ?

I think Evo did lose something a while back but I've stuck with it & think it has got back to nearly where it was. I still miss Henry Catchpole's writing though, but I do enjoy Dickie Meaden's column.

Good to hear John. Though hardly surprising. It's one of the best cars ever in my humble opinion. No one talks about them because they're really affordable and not made in Italy and not twice as expensive as they should be. But for the fun factor there really isn't much that can touch them at ANY price. Certainly not a modern watered down small engined turbocharged Pug!!!

Sounds an extremely Pro-Clio 200 article. And very interesting of course. Amazing it was, has been and and is still is right up there at the pinnacle of hot hatched-ness Cheers for the heads-up buddy.

What Month is this in John ?.....trying to buy online / subscribe but need to be sure what i'm buying.

Unless of course you can scan / photo it and post here for the less fortunate than yourself 'crew' to read  And in the aid of forum knowledge for future generations of course.....

As a Mk4 owner I’d certainly not beg to differ, I’ve said from the beginning mine is a sporty hatchback made by Renault that shares a name with an older car.
Can’t deny how special the Mk3 is when it comes to performance. Certainly more than capable against today’s 1.6 turbos, and that was proven at Bedford.
Plus they’re one of the best looking cars Renault have ever made!

I was more thinking that you might disagree with the Pug being the best of today's cars!

Scanning! You're dealing with a computer numpty here Shuv! Long since lost the instructions for my scanner/printer. Probably be breaking copyright too! Issue 247 May 2018. As a subscriber, mine came today so I'd imagine it's in your local newsagent now.

Actually they still rated the Pug too, but it was still a points win for the Clio.

Bought the EVO mag every month without fail for years, still got them all, from issue 1, left them through in my old bedroom at my mums lol. Gave up and started reading bike magazines instead. I think I will buy this issue though. Starting to get right back into cars thanks to (hate him or love him) Shmee!

Oh I see! Well, if it didn’t look like it was designed by a lava lamp then I would have had one if I’m being brutally honest.
I think it’s a very nice car, in theory. I was looking at buying one before I realised I could get a Trophy for a little bit more. Haven’t looked back since

Popped into town this am (Not specifically for the mag thankfully).....picked up one of the copies they had in WHSmith [April]; and could see nothing mentioned, nothing in the contents or with looking a couple of times thumbing through it.

Anyone got a copy and tell me what month i'm looking for. Please
