Micah's Glacier White 220 Trophy

Any updates here?

Not much going on over the winter months, I didn’t clean it for over 2 months (since Bedford!) and I was amazed how white it was meant to be!

There’s a lot of talk on the Spa group and lots of money being spent. With my service due on 3rd Feb at Two Techs and my insurance renewal at the end of that month I’m limiting my spending. I will probably get a silencer delete sorted by a local Powerflow garage for a few extra pops on the up/down-shift. As @Big Ben says, it will make it sound less crap!
Have also just ordered this from Australia as it’s seriously lacking in the footwell.

Overall, I still bloody love it - can’t wait to take it on track again in April!

Hope you're excited for Spa, Micah!

As I've said to @Chris on many occasions, I think the mk4 sounds pretty good as-is, however a few more parps and pops is always a bonus! She looks good all cleaned up!

Hiya Jimmy! You're right, it does sound good but still pretty pedestrian compared to the Mk3. Turns out my mate will do it for me, so that will be even better on the wallet.
Yes, REALLY excited for Spa, more so for the camaraderie with the forum guys than anything, but it will be epic blasting around on a familiar track with decades of history attached to it. I'm sure I'll be shaking with excitement when we go on the sighting lap.

Awesome post, love it! I envy you all going to Spa, the fact it's going to be with a load of the lads from the forum makes it even better!

Big bonus if you can get the exhaust done mates rates! I disagree on the mk3 sounding better than the mk4 though, I think the mk4 sounds a lot better in standard trim, specifically the pops on the up-changes. Either way, we all want something different from our cars, so good on you for making that change! More noise is always preferable

I think track days are a great way for us to get together without getting separated when we're on the road, so to speak. I was really blown away by our group at Bedford even though it was pretty wet and cold.
Spa is costing quite a lot but I'd be kicking myself if I didn't do it in my lifetime, and especially with so many familiar faces going.
Agreed on the upshift, that is a magical sound but only when you're in sport mode, and I don't really get many opportunities to open it up on the roads, plus it kills the fuel consumption! I only really get to use it on slip roads but it still scratches that itch to hear it every once in a while! The good thing about the silencer delete is that it doesn't drone in the cabin (apparently) and is one of the best exhaust mods you can do for the money. The aftermarket cat back systems are pricey and cause a lot of drone in the rear silencers, and we all know I've been in that difficult place before!

Re Spa, go once & you'll be hooked! It's a very addictive drug!

At last, a decent (ish) post!
The car turns one year old on the 7th, so I took it for its first minor service this morning to good old Two Techs. As always, top service from Matt and was giving me the low down on various things - I always walk away learning something new from that place. A few things in the car park to have a gander at - a 182 Trophy and its alternator that caught fire. Bit of a sorry state considering what it is. An 09 track slag 200 with fixed buckets and stud/nut conversion and a silver 200 on 34k which needs a new engine!
Was chatting to Matt about maps and exhaust mods and he mentioned someone was popping in to discuss, turns out it was a guy called Simon I was chatting to on Facebook just last night! He has a pre-facelift Trophy in matte white with wingback seats, looked lovely! He's going the whole hog with Cooksports, remap, silencer delete and getting the front blade and rear diffuser painted black, oh and the diamond cut wheels sprayed gloss black.
What I did notice is that he was part of the black badge brigade, and it surprised me how good it looks...

Anyway, here's a bit of advertising for Two Techs!

There's been a bit of discussion lately regarding brake cooling on the Mk4, and the Monitor displays a message about removing the air dams for track days. TT did this for nothing seeing as it was on the ramps anyway

Also, I found a really good thread on a random forum about a guy's ownership of a 200T in Australia. A few people have mentioned deleting the pipe in the engine bay that forces engine noise into the cabin. Apparently, you hear a lot more of the exhaust if you do this. So silicon bungs ordered on eBay and a lesson in how to remove the hose clamps, I prepared for getting the 32mm plug over a 38mm pipe...

The finished article (after much swearing and thrusting!)

I'll be driving the car in a hour so will see what difference it makes. If anything, it tidies up the bay a bit.
