Recaro Retrim

My Recaros finally wore through before Christmas so after getting them retrimed, I've rang edge earlier and I'm waiting for call back(emailed them before Christmas and never got a reply though, but fingers crossed for a call back( they seemed lovely on the phone) however if they aren't available to do it does anyone have any recommended companies(examples of there work pleaaase) preferably close to Nottingham, cheers

I sent an email 10 Jan that's 9 days ago to edge no response I'm just wanting to make as close as possible std leather like the raider/ Megane 265 Recaro I don't care as long as they match the rest of the Clio 200 interior rear seats I already have. With or without the perforated centre but I don't want to take a good set of covers apart for the edging and clips I think it's a scandal that the trim can't be bought from Renault on its own that you have to buy the foam and base shell, that Recaro don't sell replacement trims even for Recaro factory finishes. You would think with this type of seat someone some place has these off the shelf or a fixed price does anyone know the price and how Ford sell these trims for the Focus RS.

Mine was the 14th ofDecember and I did get a reply and then I heard nothing after so I'm going to see if they call, wanting the seats done for March too. I know exactly what you mean, I'm after exactly the same but alcantara centres. I agree, the focus gets mental coloured seats too. I did wonder if someone in Europe did the seat sections off the shelf.

I'm getting one repaired at capital seating in a few weeks, I'll let you know the results once it's done...

I need mine don't on both seats going to look for a company up here in Glasgow but going to see what material can be used on the bolsters that is a bit harder wearing butbdoesnt look out of place.

You can buy the material to retrim the bolsters but seems little pointbusing the same material that obviously isn't up to it.

OK it seems and anyone can correct me if I'm wrong but if you order a seat base 197 blue style from Renault the black material used is different (texture wise) from the originals and costs around £300 that's the plastic base with foam and covered just needs bolted in. Now I will only believe this when I see it so has anyone bought a Recaro blue 197 seat base from Renault in the last couple of years and was the black fabric a different texture.

The Recaro 197 (Blue Style) fabric top, standard 197 seat fabric below

Now Steve Murr is the only person I've seen on the forum as a member that repairs bolsters and I don't know if he still does it but I think as a forum we need to get someone on board that can provide a good solution with proof of workmanship and matching material we can all use even if it was only providing the material I can't see why the forums do not pressure the Renault supply chain to source the original fabrics you can still get original Renault 5 GT Turbo fabric and use the profits to fund the forums and what we want is to keep these cars going there has got to be a car interior company that has an interest with Renaults even if they are in mainland Europe.

Same as Alex would be interested to see the results and price

The price I've been quoted is very reasonable but it seems too good to be true. As mentioned the fabric is no longer the same so I dunno how out of place the repairs gonna look until it's done.

I know Steve Murr's repairs are top notch so if capital do a sh*t job that's where I'm going next...

It occurred to me the other day that the fabric in the standard seats has to be weak enough for the airbag to tear through it, so all in all it was just poor spec by Renault to use same fabric on the recaro's, and poor spec by recaro as the foam is too soft and splits underneath etc. :chair:

Been looking at seats and emailing companies all day for prices etc etc, it does get pretty boring, especially to say it's all to fix maybe an inch long tear, I don't personally rate the CS seats so I've drifted off and found myself looking at Recaro Pole positions, roughly the same price as a Retrim, just need some info bases and they maybe the better option. Renault should have just done a better job from factory, the meganes got all sorts of fancy seat options.

The fabric that can be bought is the yellow dot 200 Recaro fabric which is from capital seating and is a different texture again I don't have a sample to do a side by side comparison but I have seen it used to repair the Recaro 197 (blue) seat base recently and is not that noticeable and I believe that if you get a new blue 197 Recaro seat base from Renault this is the black material used.

To be honest I think this is bing over thought. The issue as I see it is the bolster on the upper and lower parts of the seats. Most good race seats use a harder wearing alacantra style material on the bolsters, this is what I plan to do and have an upholstery company do it.

That looks pretty good wad that price for one sest base and did they say how the material would stand up compared to the oem material

Yup just the one base/bolster, my drivers one is in pretty good condition (so far).

It's the later ph2 material so it's slightly better but it will still wear through eventually, the real issue is the foam as once that splits it's only a matter of time before the fabric goes...
