National Tyres

Has anybody used National Tyres for a service??

My mate took his megane there for years, he tried a local garage this year for the garage to say all previous services haven't been done properly. It still had original air filter in for starters which when banged dropped a s**t ton of dust. He also 'had' the suspension spring replaced on front driver, which he's just found out had the original one still on and is cracked.

Do national tyres use factory replacements or third party parts?

I've used national tyres for one thing... Tyres, and that's only due to lack of choice when buying tyres online as its the nearest/cheapest fitting station near me.

Personally, i wouldn't trust main stream garages like these (kwik fit etc.) to replace a light bulb.

Neither would i personally. Mine or the wifes !

I'm presuming their 'Technicians' likely do an in-house type very basic course (?) regards servicing; and would neither be as skilled as a properly trained time-served mechanic you'd find at a Renault dealership; or as knowledgeable as a passionate guy you'd find at a specialist Renault garage.

TBH I wouldn't trust renault dealers either, years back my Williams went in for an oil and filter change... Twenty minutes later I get a call telling me I need a new sump and that's £800 fitted, I'm like whaaaaat!

Turned out they had stripped the thread on the sump using a windy gun! But according to them "it came in like that", I ended up having to fix it myself (cue lots of grief "your not insured to be in here" which got them a polite "f*ck off" back).

I've never been to a main dealer since.

I've only used them for tyres when I needed after a puncture, they had facilities for serving however I'd never take it there.

@Pav you man is Manchester based bud

It was a mate I work with, he ended up going to a local garage and he's had to pay for nearly £800. Only went for an Mot and service and they found the spring had snapped which had apparently replaced at national tyres the year before as well as other stuff NT had supposedly changed.
He wants to know whether to go back to the national tyres branch or contact head office. He's not very happy either way.

I'd love to pay Halfords to replace a light bulb though, watching the mid-puberty work experience teenager trying to squirm his hand down into the front end with no luck would thoroughly amuse me.

I wouldnt let them touch my car, take it to a specialist probably just as cheap and will do the correct job.
