Would you complain at this?

It would be very difficult for me to restrain myself and only complain.

The problem with the chipped paint is that these parts seem to be under the black sheet they've removed and they'll probably tell you it already was like that when they pulled it off. The only thing you can hold against them in this case is that they should have told you about it anyway and that they didn't makes it quite suspicious.

In case of the rubber/plastic parts it's different as it's quite obvious that they're responsible for the damage.

Ive called them but doesnt seem to be an answerphone service, not for the bodyshop direct number. Will wait and see what they say!

I was on my phone when i first saw this post. But seeing these pics full screen on my PC makes horrendous viewing.

If you bare in mind you'd just paid to have work done on that very area - how on Earth did someone think you wouldn't look at it - and then notice what had been done ? The marks to the paint are shocking. Was the technician removing them blindfold. With a crowbar :-(

Agreed.

The trouble with the rubber strip - is once it's been on for any amount of time; the retaining 'clip' is a push-fit in once and then snap upon removal / wear beyond being reusable part. Not sure if it's designed to be - but in reality it most certainly isn't a multi-use item. I speak from experience....

I am very frustrated by it but I plan to use the logic of 'what the f*ck have you done to my car!' :confounded:

I'd imagine a hot air gun and scraper to remove the vinyl. As Marsch says, I dont know what kind of comeback I am going to have on the paint. I can't see them accepting any fault for it but ill have to test the water. No point in going in all guns blazing, start off low and escalate and see what they offer.

They cant run away from the damage to the seals, the photos below were taken the day it went in of both sides just in case anything came back damaged.

I guessed it would be. I also think there will be play in a new one they fit because the thickness of the vinyl isnt there. I asked them to remove the vinyl, they can't use that as an excuse to damage it. They must have done repairs on Clio's before and understand they are pretty much a one use item?

There will be no play in the trim because of 1/2mm of vinyl missing. Ive been there too. Its a tapered fitting basically and should push-fit in as far as needed. Plus the rubber strip itself will 'give' enough to take up a bit of slack.

And if the person doing it had jammed some rag between door and b-pillar to keep the door ajar - there would have been no need for ANYTHING being used in removal of the strips to get anywhere near the rear seals.

Moronic workmanship that :-(

Pics of my side-strips, some window rubbers, horizontal strips etc being replaced here:

And you can pretty much see i had the door open at every stage working on this area !

That lower plastic stripe can't be a one fit except my painter is a magician. My car somehow came without the black sheet on the door of the driver side (you can see it in my avatar actually). That's at least what the previous owner told me and I've no reason to doubt what he says. He already had that sheet ordered from Renault (costs something around 80,- €) and I got it applied when I had that fugly Akrapovic sticker on the roof removed. The stripe still fits perfectly in space afterwards.

Its a tapered plastic 'clip' that pushes in to an oblong recess in the B-pillar. Holding in on a friction fit; which wears away the clip slightly every time it's pressed in. How many times it pushes in before it wears too much too allow fitting another time is 'random' i'd say.

It most certainly isn't a life-long lasting part !

Please DO NOT Got to the dealer. Go direct to Renault Uk and start the complaint and process there.

If I told you what I got from Renault Uk after waiting on a tail gate to be painted for 7 months you would go through them also.

Why were you dealing with her ?

I would have been asking for the Service Manager from the get-go. And if they were no help I’d have gone up the chain of command from there.

He wasn't around and they want to see the car, which is fair enough. I haven't however had any kind of phone call from management to arrange a time or date, and its been the entire working week. Not impressed.

I wouldn’t have lasted a week.

You’re not asking for an immediate repair. Just their initial reaction.

Bet they went as slow taking payment for the work......

I’d push the issue if it were my car.

GOOD LUCK !

trying to avoid meeting you??why dont they just admit it was their fault and be done with it..??

Get on the live chat on the Renault website and send them a link to this thread and say you’re expecting an IMMEDIATE and THOROUGH response.

That’s absolutely disgraceful. Do NOT take it on the chin mate. Utterly disgusting way to treat a customer and Renault 100% need to deal with it.
