Red Battery Connector Unit

Trying to figure out what this is all about.

As standard the battery is connected at the top left. Its fused from the right side and also the starter/alternator on the far right. The 4 power connections to equipment Blue A & B and Green A & B are also fused.

It all seems a bit extreme to me - I haven't seen this with any other car.

I can't really think why there is protection between the battery and starter/alternator apart from maybe connecting the battery the wrong way round - the fuse should then blow.

If any equipment tries to pull too much power the fuses at Blue A & B and Green A & B show go.
