Newbie in the North West

Just thought I'd say hi and introduce myself. When I passed my test 12 years ago I promised myself I would have a car I was proud of by the time I was 30, having seen my 30th come and go I figured it was about time pursued this promise to myself....I take delivery of my 197 tommorow (hopefully, it needed a ball joint before the dealer would let it go and it's booked in to Renault to be done tommorow). It's quite clean but needs a few bits doing to it so my question is this....

What can I do to make Barney stand out, whilst still retaining the 'q' car look? Any suggestions and pictures of your examples welcome.

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your purchase! They are awesome little cars and you will have a lot of fun with it. Fingers crossed all works out fine with the work being done tomorrow and you can get on with enjoying it sharpish!

As for mods, there are many available to you, from the cheap to the very expensive! There's a huge amount of inspiration to be had in the Project and Progress Threads section, so have a good look through some of the members' stories and you'll find plenty to go on

Any questions, please feel free to ask!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

And good luck remembering and typing in that username !

CONGRATS on the 197 purchase

As Jimmy said - the progress threads section will give you plenty to think about im sure.

What colour is your new pride and joy BTW ?

Thanks for the welcomes! I've never owned a Renault before so I'm looking forward to this new experience! I've owned numerous (boring, slow) cars in the past but nothing with quite this much power.

I'm wanting to keep it pretty subtle but with a hint of naughty kid [emoji849] so I'll have a good mooch through the threads for inspiration.

Barney is metallic blue (I can't remember the official name for it) I've tried uploading a picture to my post but it keeps failing (possibly because I'm using tapatalk and I believe there are issues with it at the moment). He's an 06 and I believe completely standard.

As for the username.. It's been my username for every forum I've ever joined up to so it's pretty much emblazoned on my mind [emoji23]

As said above head over to the progress thread and be prepared to realise how standard your car is!!, some seriously nice Clio's on here and echo above the progress thread will inspire and depress you!

Welcome. Lovely car in a really lovely colour.

Hope you enjoy your ownership as much as we have with ours.

Get used to plenty of money spent on fuel and plenty of things going wrong!

If you can deal with that, these are really fantastic cars to drive. About as much fun as anything on the road.

As for upgrades, save up and go for big things. Most of the little things either don't do much, look pants or even make your car worse! They're really great as they left the factory.

Oh and front lip, you really don't have many options which is why 90% of 197 owners go with the Renaultsport one. Bonus is, it's not expensive and looks superb.
