Lovely pics jimmy ! And great news on more pain free motoring.

Some time between posts here !! Not quite troubling the renowned wheel refurb timescale mind..

I know you're somewhat of a perennial 'worrier' and are always saving and planning just incase and to be ready for any costly issues your beauty throws at you.

In saying that - with all this pain free motoring you're having: you must have some bloody hoarde set aside now

But yes. Looking superb buddy and glad to hear you've been lead to the direction of the holy grail of garages. That's quite some find in itself.

**End of term report now reads:

"Good work Jimmy. Extremely satisfactory results - but more regular updates needed."

Enjoy my friend

Good stuff Jimmy. Looking very very good indeed. Nothing like a freshly detailed black car.

Great photos and glad to hear you've had a good R27 moment and reminded yourself why these cars are just so bloody good!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the comments!

Yep I do indeed @Sean197 , however as you can see it's more thread, and less progress

Yeah that's it @matt9566 , a thorough clean and a nice drive makes all the difference! It's a well looked after car, I just lack the time at the moment to fully enjoy it!

Thanks @Chris I was thinking about that on Sunday, I think a proper machine polish would bring it out even more! We shall discuss again at CSS dude

Thanks for the suggestion Colin @LOCKE , I'll look into the gel plates on ebay - I wouldn't mind some clean ones too, I'm not so keen on the EU badges...

Haha, yeah @Pav I didn't think you'd approve of Trev moving his business over my way  you're lucky you have him on your doorstep  good thing I like the drive over the Pennines

You hit the nail on the head Shuv @sevenfourate , there has always been something that's cropped up in the past that's taken a massive dent out of the R27 Fund, so it is a nice feeling to not have anything too major spoiling the fun this time around! However, the balance might be there, but not being much of a modder, I have nothing (tasty) to spend it on

Sunday morning clean and then a drive out today.

Looking swell there buddy ! About time we saw some more shots of your Darling. Especially all fresh and clean.

***I was beginning to wonder if you still had it :tongueout:

And look at that sky. Blessed on a Sunday day of rest you were !

:smile: Thanks Shuv, yeah sadly I've not spent nearly as much time enjoying the car as I'd have liked to. It was nice to devote some to it today though.

Was indeed a nice day, good to get out on some familiar roads

nice pics Jimmy..glad you found some spare time to clean your baby..believe i've been giving some abuse for not cleaning her more often :tearsofjoy:

Just read through the entire thread. Your car is a credit to you Jimmy. Lovely!

You lucky beggar Jimbo!!
My favourite day Sunday for some Clio time:silverdiamond:

Car looks tidy mate. You must’ve headed south looking at the weather:wink:

Ha, yeah it was unseasonably warm for Leeds  roads were fairly quiet too, so that added to the fun!

Mate looks awesome! Glad you had an awesome blast out

Cheers dude, it was good to get out and have a bit of a blast, it was long overdue!

nice pics Jimmy..glad you found some spare time to clean your baby..believe i've been giving some abuse for not cleaning her more often :tearsofjoy:

Yep, you keep me on my toes when it comes to having it clean Pav  it's just been coincidence that she's been dirty whenever you see her!

Just read through the entire thread. Your car is a credit to you Jimmy. Lovely!

Well thank you very much John, I really do appreciate that. The thread might not get updated very much, but it's no reflection at all on how she's treated.

FINAL UPDATE - this might be a long one....

So nearly a year after the last update  it's time to wrap things up and say goodbye to R27 #243.

She actually went three weeks ago now, but I have only just got round to making this post. It's fair to say this progress thread wasn't ever the busiest, or most frequently updated, however that's no reflection on the love I had for the car overall. The fact that the update prior to this was nearly 12 months ago, does tell a little story though...

Truth is, over the last year I fell out of love with the car. I loved her, but I wasn't in love with her anymore. I hope that most of you will know what I'm on about when I say that, because I'm sure so many of you love your baby to bits! I can't really put my finger on why it is I started to fall out of love, however it was significant enough to contribute to me finally making the decision to sell her.

These are such special cars and they demand a LOT of attention and time. They aren't run-of-the-mill by any stretch, and unless you can devote that time and attention to them and also really exploit the qualities that make them a special car, for me they aren't really a viable option. Personally, over the last year my R27 was essentially only used as a commuter and for relatively short trips: not ideal fodder for a car of this calibre, and as such I lost that buzz of excitement that I constantly got when I first bought her.

Another reason is that over the last few months I have had a very persistent, two-wheel sized itch that needs to be scratched, badly. I'm currently in the process of going through my DAS for a full bike licence and I'm pretty much obsessed with that at the moment. That didn't leave much room for an R27 and was another reason I took the hard decision to sell.

The selling process wasn't a great experience tbh - I think at the moment it is very much a buyers' market and it probably couldn't have been a worse time to sell mine. She was sold though, to a trader from near Silverstone, who apparently specialised in hot hatches and 'hand-picked' the finest from the private market.... I'll take that as a compliment. I hope she finds a good home and that the eventual new owner will enjoy her as much as I did.

Do I miss her? Honestly, at the moment no. Reading the progress threads on here, I do get the occasional little pang and I remember the good times, however it's not nearly enough to think that I made the wrong decision. As I said above, it's all about motorcycles at the minute, so that's the hot topic in my head and therefore a fast car doesn't float my current boat.

I had an incredible 4 years behind the wheel of her and there are some truly memorable times that I will never forget - the Scotland North Coast 500 with @Pav and @Chris was probably the most fun and favourite time I had in the car. Plus, owning the car introduced me to this forum, which I am very proud to be a part of. On that subject, I'm not going anywhere and I will be staying on as Admin

Thanks for reading, I'll finish with my favourite photo of her:

It makes perfect sense to me what you are saying Jimmy. I too only use mine on short journeys, to and from work, and the car sits parked up pretty much all weekend. We have a 5 door car which is better for the family duties and the Clio seems wasted to me sometimes - probably why I am often seen saying about considering selling up! My itch is one of the turbocharged 4 whel kind and one which is better at handling family duties (think along the likes of Golf R Estate etc).

Must say though I did enjoy reading your post and can definitely sympathise with you - they are a fantastic little car which should be enjoyed much more than on mundane A road journeys.

Glad to hear you are sticking around!

Lovely sign off post mate. Hopefully someone will be driving that car very soon as it will no doubt put a huge smile on their boat race.

Brilliant to read that you’re sticking around on the forum. Be nice to hear from you still.

Good like with the bike. Brave man!!
