My Albi is dead :(

Blimey! You were so lucky to walk away unscathed.

Are those curtain airbags or the roof lining in the photo? I didn’t know the 197 had curtain airbags, nice to know they do if that’s the case.

yeah, curtain airbags. I didn't know they had them either, and wish I still didn't know about them LOL

Dear me Sean so sorry to read this mate, so gutted for you but echoing the above, so glad you are ok - especially after seeing the pics of your car.

Shame to hear that you won't be having another clio in the imminent future but family comes first etc, good luck sorting everything out and please keep this thread updated.

Cheers mate. Forgot about you when I mentioned keeping the Albi flag flying, yours was always a car I admired.

Get the cheapest Clio 197 on the bay and shove everything into it? There's an Albi Blue on eBay for under £2k.

I'd be more than happy to spare some time to help you reshell it if you ever decide to

And i thought my 16 hours at work today was eventful. Until i logged on here.

WOW !

Firstly glad you're ok Sean. Thats primary.

Proper job you've done there though. Yup. Killed it !

Sorry to hear this mate, absolutely gutted for you. I suppose the important thing is you're ok but still so sad to see the car that way! Just do what you've got to do and hopefully you'll be back in another one soon enough

Sorry to hear about this mate, really glad you're all ok though.. sometimes that's the main thing. Cars can be replaced and I'm sure that whenever it is you'll be back bigger and better!

Really hope everything works out and you're back in a Clio a lot sooner than you think.

All the best mate!

yup, properly gave myself a scare. It's mangled, when I woke up (think I was out for about 10 secs) I got out the car and thought 'that doesn't look too bad', then I got round to the passenger side and saw how bent the chassis was. The front is actually ok, just superficial damage with the bumper being ripped off.
Like you say though, the primary thing is that i'm ok although I think i'll be heading to hospital in the morning as my head still hurts a little and my shoulder is quite stiff.

wife says no LOL baby due in December, she didn't mind me spending my money on the clio, but buying another and starting again is a no-go, which tbh I completely understand given the circumstances.

Please-please do Sean.

My immediate thoughts were with the 'after effects' and things that appear maybe later as you seemed to be quite chirpy and clearly alive and posting !

Dead Clio's are shit. Health issues - even minor ones are worse. Im just beginning to realise im not immortal and there is nothing as important as your health. Do yourself a favour and get yourself checked out buddy.

Take it easy

mmm Sean - I wanted a passenger ride in this

I know a Clio just down the road everything could be transplanted into.

Ouch, but as said the main thing is that your ok! Cars are only metal and plastic, at the end of the day they can be bent, broken, fixed, replaced or turned into washing machines. In my youth I wrote of an early RS in spectacular fashion, walked away with nothing more than a burn mark from the air bags going off and similarly it was a road I'd canned it down on a regular basis, one day I was taking it "steady" and wham I'm tumbling down the road... Road, sky, road, sky etc.

Just be quite careful what you say to the police, blame the road or the conditions or a diesel spill or a deer in the road etc. but never admit you lost control because you did x y z etc. I thought being honest would be the right thing to do and how fecking wrong was I, six weeks later I was getting done for dangerous driving completely out of the blue! :chris2:

All the best mate, it's character building.

I know this is a car forum and we are all passionate about cars but the bit in Seans original thread that got me was "baby on the way". Cars are only metal but god forbid your kid growing up without his/her father. You are ok Sean that the main thing mate.

I echo @///M's comments on here. I read this last night but just didn't know what to say. It's really gutting, but you're looking at this in completely the right perspective. Cars can always be replaced, your life and limbs can't. You've probably got a better perspective with a baby on the way. At the very least, you were able to enjoy the car and had a great time at Spa. We look forward to seeing your progress thread in, hopefully, the not too distant future.
Take care mate, hope this all gets sorted with minimum stress.

Sean, I presumed you'd BEEN to hospital. If you're reading this and you haven't been already PLEASE GO ASAP!!!

Concussion can be a funny thing. Not worth taking the risk.

Having seen the pics, my god mate, I'm even happier that you go out ok. Bloody hell.

And yeah, having read further, with a little one on the way, that's going to be a big shift in focus for you. Come December, which isn't that far away, you're going to be so focused on your new little one that this won't seem anything like as big.

Get seen to mate. Seriously!

Hi Sean
Glad to hear you are okay. Must be such a shock.
I did not know that clio197 do have those safety curtains. I hope everything goes well with insurance company.
Maybe you will return in clio scene later?

When I logged in today I was all happy and cheerful from being back home, enjoying the sun and lots of ladies wearing literally nothing but very short shorts:thumb:
Tbh with you Sean, something similar happened to.me not long ago and I was lucky to report a curbed wheel and a few flashing lights on the dash.a liftoff oversteer is a tricky bastard to deal with..reckon I got very lucky..
Anyway,im so happy you got out without any help and you are relatively ok..also happy no one else got hurt..I hope you will recover swiftly from this and very soon you will be giving us good news about purchasing another clio...
You may as well keep all the internals to meg your next one...
Glad you are ok mate..keep us posted:thumb:
