Big Bens non Clio

Visit to Engine Dynamics this morning. Andy was very courteous and professional as always.

Car had a dyno check up and timing was off a little bit so Andy adjusted it and everything's hunky dory. Made 199bhp again:grinning:

Exhaust had started to rattle a little bit on hard right hand corners so had that adjusted as well. Seems to have worked!

All in all a productive morning.

Trackday at Curborough Monday. Looking forward to it

Superb that your car is looking and running great Ben - and ready to kick some Norfolk butt Monday

"Timing was a little bit off" = How the heck does that work........

Do we all need to sign up for 3-monthly checks,or..........?

Was hoping I wasn't going to have to explain this...:grinning:

Knock sensor was affecting the timing so wasn't quite getting full welly.
Andy was baffled as to why the timing was off. We then went through the whole story of my poor power run a few months back. Followed by what bits I'd changed(camshaft sensor, plugs,Cat etc..).
Consensus was that knackered cam sensor had affected the knock sensor and was therefore messing with the timing. Andy turned knock sensor off and it immediately made 198bhp.

I might be talking s**t but that's how I remember the conversation lol

Not working today so cars going to get a good clean.

WTF is this poking out the bonnet?:censored:

IMG_1152.JPG

Looks like someone left their ratchet under my bonnet after working on my car yesterday. Bit disappointed to be honest. Guy on here had engine failure recently from a misplaced tool.(sorry can't remember who)
Admittedly it's unlikely to have got over the rubber seal into the engine.

Silver lining is I've got a nice Halfords advanced ratchet with a 10mm socket:wink:

Have a good weekend guys

No way !!!

If i remember rightly Ben - the guy on here had a Blue Point screwdriver left under the hood; which they thought then jammed in the aux belt; and finally that took out the timing belt....(?)

That sounds about right from memory mate. Poor bastard

The outcome could have been a lot worse Ben - good thing you found it before it came flying out going round Curbs...! Agreed with Chris: full set and not another word will be said about it

Happened to me too..horrible when you realize what could have happened..lucky..I always check my engine bay now for randomly placed/forgotten tools...

Small update:

Was due on track at Curborough Monday but had to make a dash back home to fix a roof that I'd fitted that had leaked over the weekend after all the heavy rainfall. Ceiling beneath was ready to collapse:oops:

Enjoyed the evening meal beforehand though and was nice to meet all the guys. Just gutted that I didn't get any track time as I was itching to try out my newish suspension setup!

So with me losing money left right and centre, the only sensible option was to delay my Sprint Spoiler purchase for a while...

Nah bollocks. Had a good chat with Simon at SprayShack this morning and its being painted and then delivered next Tuesday for when I return from holiday:thumb:

Thanks for looking

Classic Ben! It's all relative isn't it? You'd only end up buying it further down the line anyway.
