Quick Q - 197 Cambelt Kit

I ended up buying cheap and paying twice due to a faulty dephaser as I had no comeback on the parts I asked the garage to fit. I personally would take it to a specialist and paying for them to supply and fit the parts for peace of mind.
That kit does look genuine though, but check the parts upon delivery. Worst case scenario, from my own experience, would be to not fit the dephaser pulley.

Thanks for the reply Micah. Doing the job myself - have the correct Renault tools - just wanting to make sure I get the correct (genuine!) kit of bits.

Thanks mate, you're right. Add another £12 for the crank pulley bolt comes in at £253 + delivery. I'll give them a call and go this route.

Cheers :sunglasses:

Out of interest where did you buy the tools? Going to be attempting mine soon as it's well overdue.

Priced up a cambelt change at my local Renault Independent specialist today and was pleasantly surprised. £418 all in, I thought it would be nearer £800 tbh.

Thats a good price, but make sure it includes the water pump. I also doubt it will include the dephaser, but they are meant to be a stronger design on the 197/200.

It is, includes the water pump and all associated parts. I thought that was an excellent price really and was very surprised by that.

I'm not going back in again ha ha but I'm assuming it's OE Renault. They have their reputation at stake I doubt they'd sell junk.

Ended-up going to renaultpartsdirect for what I needed, all in was £256 posted and arrived the next day. :thumb:
