Hi guys,

i've been struggling to get me a decent quote for my megged clio..Rang a few companies and i felt like they were passing me from one representative to another..I managed to get 1 quote of £1,500..surely thats a bit too much..any advice on this would be very much appreciated..

many thanks

Pav

Have you tried Sky insurance Pav? Excellent customer service and the guy I was speaking to on the phone really knew his stuff.

thanks for the tip..they all are nice to the point where i mention the meg conversion..it goes down the hill from there!!shocking..im 34 years old, never claimed,no points on my license,10 years NBC..full time job, single :excited:
car is parked at a locked compound during a day..really dont know where im going wrong..

Try Brentacre Pav, they do different power cover, they are great, I've been with them for 7 years now!

many thanks..will do a quote online and if it looks good, will give them a ring later..

Maybe it's because you said you were single...

I've often wondered how much to insure a car with an engine transplant would be. Didn't think £1500 though mate that's extortionate:cry:

Must be other megged guys out there who can help??

Sorry to hear your troubles Pav. Have you tried Herts (HIC)? They're very cheap for me (although I don't have a turbo obviously).

What have you been doing up to now? Has your current insurer just massively up their price or hadn't you declared it yet?

Try compare the market @Pav, I just tried a quick quote and the cheapest was £480.
what did you put for the engine conversion Sean..there are a few options like non standard engine, supercharging, turbocharging etc..

Try Paul at Need to Insure, they do a modified car policy with trackdays included
thanks..will have a look..

Ha, I'm just used to calling them, learn something new every day, fingers crossed they are cheaper

As a comparison pav try getting a quote for say a 220 Clio or a meg.you will see if it's the conversion that's the issue. It costs me 20 quid more on a new Meg 275 than my 197. But I am 48 and have twelve years ncb

I got insured with Keith Micheals. Mines a meg converted one. 33 years old, 3 points for speeding on a m'way, decent area code, £580. Every mod covered separately. The mods get replaced like for like if it gets damaged. The insurance company is Highway which is part of LV which are highly rated.
The brokers name is jeremy Pocock. Don't email but call him.

I'm also with Highway (LV) but I went through Brentacre, yep they cover all my mods separately too, i've been with them for 5 of my 7 years, they were great with when I got rear ended in my R27, they paid out extra for my exhaust etc.
