Yesterday Was Pretty Crap

So as some of you may have seen/guessed I had a little fight with a deer yesterday. The car stood up reasonably well, a lot better than the deer did that's for sure.

I was off to a track day at Blyton and travelling down the A1 overtaking a lorry when a deer jumped out from the central crash barriers. I got as close to the lorry as I could and slowed as much as I could but not enough....

Looked at the damage at the roadside and considered weather or not I'd be able to patch it up and attend the track day anyway but thought better of it. Some of the clips/bolt holes on the damaged side of the bumper weren't secure enough for my liking. I didn't want it coming off at speed and doing more damage or hitting somebody else. So the day was written off. This is how I drive home (slowly)..

And having a look at the damage at home revealed it all seems to be body panels only so now I'm deciding weather or not to do an insurance claim or self repair using second hand or cheap bits that are in good condition followed by a re-spray...

Thanks guys, it's in progress, probably through insurance. Yeh I was more upset about missing the track day than the damage to the car. Oh and it doesn't look good for credit/refund from the track day, I spoke to javelin as soon as they opened at 9am and they said if they could re-sell it I would and that they'd let me know. But I haven't heard anything so I guess they couldn't.

Try this for pics not sure why the first ones aren't working: https://imgur.com/gallery/cXzR0

Very sorry to hear about that, Peter, I hope you can get things sorted hassle-free. Glad you weren't hurt - with a lorry alongside you, it could have turned out a lot worse...

So I've my car back since Wednesday and haven't stopped driving it. Ah you miss them when you don't have them. Overall the job the body shop did was fantastic, I've been over it very closely and I can't tell it's been painted, next stop after leaving the paint a while to make sure it's cured is a trip to the detailers.

As I thought it was just body panels that were damaged, they didn't find any other damage. So a new bumper, light, wing and door. I was in two minds what was to go but decided to go down the insurance route so that I knew everything was repaired or replaced properly rather than bodged.

So hopefully these pics will work this time...

Funny, I've been having the same issue with photobucket when pasting the link, when I do it the same was as I've always done it comes out as the OP's original post and you can't see the pics, then you have to edit what you have pasted as it seems to have copied too much!

Don't have this issue when using this method on any other forums, just here??

Missed this thread - very sorry to hear. I've been there myself, whacked one in my fiesta at 5am on the way to work, didn't even see it until it was too late, I missed the first one but hit its mate following...

Made a bit of a mess of my front bumper.

Glad to see you've got it sorted now though

Good news that they've got the car back to normal - it must have been a fairly anxious time with it being LY!

I can't say I've had any issues with links from Photobucket, although having said that, the site isn't the most user-friendly....

Saw this on Facebook and my heart sank! I know what it's like seeing the smallest of prangs on these things let alone something major!

What a job they've done though, must be over the moon with that, looks like they've done a great job

Thanks mate, but that's exactly what I did. The only thing I can hunk is it's something to do with using it on a phone. Anyway for now it seems like two of the pics have worked - in a way.

It was indeed, but the guy assured me he's done them before and seemed to know what he was talking about. Fortunately he's done work on my lasses car before so I knew he could at least do a good job of the Seat metallic like green colour which doesn't seem the easiest to match.

Looks fantastic.....maybe some good has come from the mishap. ie: To get it looking even slightly better than pre deer-fight
Thanks, I can't fault it at all. To be honest it has, I was lined up to get the front bumper sprayed anyway to get rid of some chips and the cost of that was pretty much the same as my insurance excess. Also I've got a couple of small patches of corrosion on the roof rails sorted too at the same time. Every cloud and all that I suppose....
