Happy 10th Birthday - R27 #91

The R27 is 10 years old today!!

I somehow noticed last week when I was looking through the cars paperwork that it was first registered on this date in 2007 - It also coincides with it being 3 years of ownership!

I recently had the car in for it's yearly service and as a birthday treat while it was there the Akrapovic I'd recently bought was fitted, and what a difference! I'll be honest I wasn't sold on the exhaust at first but over the last week or so after putting a few miles on the exhaust and a great drive out to Windermere I've just fallen in love with the car even more than I already was! Ignore any of my previous comments on other threads about the Akrapovic and go buy one!!

So last weekend I was heading out to Windermere and I decided it was time to treat the car to a good clean, along with the full interior as the seats hadn't been done properly since I bought it (how bad of me I know!) 2 of my good friends own a car cleaning business so left it with them to work their magic, not sure of what was actually done (cleaning/detailing) isn't my thing but wow! Don't these cars just look absolutely brilliant when clean!

72,000 miles, 10 years later and it looks like it left the factory today!

Love everything about this post!

Ours was late 2007 so I should keep an eye on it.

The Arka is just perfect right? No drone, behaves almost like standard at part throttle, sounds classy as hell and plenty raucous without being chavvy at full chat. Looks gorgeous and weighs loads less too.

Oh and your car looks AMAZING!

I love Clio's in Red  Likely my very fave colour. Despite not owning one !!!

So an R27 in red might be the icing on the cake here.....

Great story, great pics and a very happy birthday to the 'old gal'.

She most certainly doesn't look her age :-}

Happy Birthday to #91!! :thumb:

Definitely not looking her age, and I still think the plate is very apt  Really good to hear that you're happier with the Akra now - perhaps it was all the hype and expectation that spoiled it at first, now you can enjoy it!

Thanks for the great comments everyone!

Many thanks for the kind words Mes!

Yeah, it's really is just perfect. The Clio is my daily (Hoping to change this soon to keep the mileage down) so it's a great mix of quiet when I need it to be and brilliant when giving it some, I'm sure now i've got a few miles on it, it pops more frequently and it seems considerably better (Brilliant) high up in the rev range.

They are just lovely aren't they! In all honesty i'm a sucker for LY, but when mines clean I wouldn't change it for the world.

Many thanks for the kind words Shuv!

Many thanks Jimmy!

Haha, I like the plate but i've been considering an R27 one recently.. she might get another birthday treat yet!

I think that's what it was with the Akra, I'd heard brilliant reviews from everyone so had massive expectations so was a little disappointed at first.. now i've got a few miles on it and done some great driving roads recently i've realised just how special they are!
