What model car do I actually own

Please help haha, I have been reading up on different Clio 197s, is there an ordinary f1 addition? I have seen so many posts explaining what the cup has, the f1 has and the r27, mine has the f1 decal stickers and reactions racing seats , the Keyless entry etc, no plaque so that would say it's not the r27 chassis, so is it just a basic 197 f1? (I took the f1 decal off of the back) thanks and sorry for the silly post

That's what I guessed at, thanks mate... think I'll remove them then

Your car mate, if you like them keep them. I'd take them off myself if it's not an R27, which it isn't. But there's no denying they look pretty cool. I really love the sticker pack. It's missing something without the back one though. And do you have a black roof?

Nice splitter.

Ps. Not a silly post, if you don't know you don't know.

To be honest I have been 50/50 about them since I bought it. Im the first to admit I don't have a huge understanding of cars, modifications etc i just know the basics..I just wanted a fun car to drive so I'm not always in my work van . Yes it has a black roof which to be honest I thought must of been pretty standard and common when I bought it, and same with the front splitter...

If you want, just go on the Renault website and use their online chat. If you give them details of your car, they'll tell you the original specification as it left the factory so you can tell what has been added after. The black roof is almost certainly an aftermarket job. It was an option but I think later especially looking at the black bit at the back of the roof. Is it a wrap?. The splitter was available as an option too so that may have been on since day one. You'll see a few splitters but very few have a black roof.

Nice car anyway mate. Best colour. Not that I'm biased...

No it's not been wrapped it has been sprayed.. in toying with the idea of the bonnet now , yeah it is a nice colour when it Is all cleaned up!! I agree with you! Although I am a big fan of white too!

Strange that it hasn't got a plaque therefore not a R27 - but they look like genuine door and front R27 decals to me, at £115 each for the door ones and about £60 for the front somebody must have liked the decals ALOT. I own an R27 and I refuse to pay the price to put the door ones on mine!! Nevermind one that isn't actually an R27

Is that how much they are Don't know why anyone would pay that for one that isn't an r27!! I'm not 100% about paying £100 for a bonnet wrap

Yeah, exact prices are - £115.78 per side for the door ones, £42 for the front and £54 for the rear.. The roof one is meant to be about £500+
You can get very cheap copies but from looking at the side ones they look genuine to me - The cheap ones don't have the 'World champions 2005 & 2006" bit on them.

Back to your original questions - a good way to check the model of your car is if you go on a car insurance website and type your reg number in it usually tells you the model, mine comes up as a clio 197 F1 team (which is the R27)

By far the best way is to use the live chat on the Renault website. They'll tell you everything including the full original specification.

£100 is almost half way to a KTec induction kit. You'd get MUCH more enjoyment out of that!

I'll start reading up on everything and then get an idea of what I need and want! Only really understand appearance at the minute! Learning about performance etc is what I need to do!

One last question , if I'm wanting to find out what's been done to the car performance wise i.e. Remap etc do I just need to take it in to someone who can get me all the readings or is there a way to check without that

Wow, I didn't know this was possible - I'm curious about mine. Is it just a case of getting the live chat up and giving them my reg number ?

Read as much as you can mate. The more you know the better informed your choice will be. There is a massive wealth of info on this site, everything you'll ever need basically.

First thing to know about performance with these cars is that unless you're going to spend many £1000's then it's a waste of money!

Get some good suspension, exhaust, intake and get it remapped and then just enjoy driving it like you stole it.

The Clio is much more about handling than it is about straight line performance.

But they're fast enough for any b-road and they're an absolute hoot to drive near the limit.

Have fun mate.

Yes mate. It's a great service and they're really helpful. I was looking at buying another Clio recently and wanted to check if what the owner was telling me about what was standard was true.

Took them a few mins to dig up the details but they told me everything.

Remap is pretty easy to tell, if your car doesn't kangaroo from cold, it's almost certain it's been remapped!
