Shuv's Racing Blue 200...................

Lower, wider, stiffer.

If i can pull it all off - before next Saturday i hope.

Which springs you going for and how much you wanting lowered by?

I think my perfect amount would be 20mm front and 10mm rear, not too much so it looks stupidly low, but just enough to make a noticeable difference.

Definitely think wider on the rears improves the stance massively! Only problem is you might end up flicking stones up at your immaculate paintwork :censored:

I'm 99.9% sure i'm going for Eibachs buddy (Supposedly specifically designed around fitting the standard non-Cup dampers on a 200)

In mentioning i might be getting springs and asking about fitting; my mechanic (Who is NOT a French car fan) said "Get Eibachs"......"The rest arent worth getting" or similar. Which was interesting and what i'd intended getting anyway......

I'm going for 15mm / 20mm drop front and rear. Spacing maybe 10-15mm TOTAL track widening on the front and 20-25mm TOTAL on the rear.

All quite conservative therefore......

Yeah there's a fella at my work who's proper into cars and has his own track car etc, and he told me in his opinion Eibachs are definitely the better choice of what's out there.

Be interesting to see some before and after pictures once you've got it all sorted :thumb:

save yourself the trouble and get a coliover set Syer..seriously mate..

This is also true.
If I could go back and spend my money again, I'd have opted for B14's and ditched the Scorpion [emoji23]

For the 8 mile drive to work at 50mph right behind the bumper of the car infront....

Apart from work - last year I did 800 or 900 additional miles.

Still seem 'worth it' ?

not trying to say that the lowering springs are useless but having fitted both options,I have to say that the Eibach springs cant be compared to B14's in the slightest...

haha i do 2 mile journey to work..full of speed bumps and traffic lights too..still prefer the B14 kit mate..its future proof and adjustable...

ask Simon...

At 1/3 the cost I'm damned sure there's no comparison Pav !

As much as I enjoy tinkering / modding I only use the car for work and back though....

i was like you tbh..then i found myself wanting the car to be a bit lower and better handling..
but each to their own..the Eibach springs are good though..good choice

Your more than entitled to your experienced opinion Pav.........

If i thought chassis feel would be clearly better reversing out the garage, feedback vastly improved as i sat stationary at the infamous Oulton Broad line-gates or turn in revolutionised as i veered into my car park space i'd willingly oblige. lol

I'll be 100% honest (And if you check my previous post on this subjects i've always said this) i'm not really that sure of messing with the standard suspension and never have been ! I never intended on doing anything at all. Partly through worry of accelerated wear on suspension / steering componentry and also because of some of the shocking country roads around here.

Most of all this is about a tiny bit of handling improvement and just to get this damned tractor siting a little bit lower.ie....alot of this is visual only. I dont do track-days and aren't really interested in doing them in cars either. And i'm not sure i need to spend £600 to 'just' get 15mm lower.....

Again - if you search back to the pics of the Clio meet i attended in Great Yarmouth in the summer....there was no doubting i WAS the highest car there !

But i also hear you loud and clear. Perhaps i'll get the suspension bug and learn the hard way......So thanks for your thoughts as ever.

no worries..its a good upgrade regardless whether you are doing track days or not..the car just feels much better planted..i've been in a cup and standard clio, and the best set up is still the B14..

there's no rush for you to make any decisions right now anyway..it took me 3 years to fit a coliover kit..

Yeah from the sounds of it if you just want it lowered then springs are the way forward... as you say if you don't track and don't drive all that much then coilovers would be a bit overkill unless you've got the money to throw at it.

If you want to keep the ride the same then another option is to have someone like Faulkners or Springcoil make you a custom set. All you need is the internal diameter, free length, and spring rate, then tell them how much you want it lowered by, and they can make them.

Good info - thanks Sean. What sort of price is a custom set ?

I bought a non-Cup as i was concerned about too harsh a ride, and i didnt think i could be arsed with it.

Turns out - having it wallow in the corners more than you like is no better........
