    Milage thread

07 plate FF 197 on circa 71,000 miles. Owned from new. Quite a cathartic process writing all this down. On top of standard service schedule, it has had the following: - New windscreen wiper mechanism due to original one seizing up (water ingress?). Not fun on a rainy day when your wipers are...

    Average Servicing cost?

Yeah no time limit on plugs, but Hit 36,000 miles at 5 years so needed doing. obviously this was an extra on top of what will definitely need doing at 5 years. Was never 100% convinced brake fluid was done at 4 years so got that changed at same time. Amount it cost an extra few quid for the...

    Average Servicing cost?

Sounds about right. For 5 year service, spark plugs, brake fluid, belts and water pump I was quoted over £1,200 and £1,400 by two Renault dealerships. :swear: They then asked if I wanted to book it in! :w00t: I politely declined.

    could actually cry!

I know how you feel. Hadn't owned mine for long from new when I parked it in a multi-storey car park and had to put it on the top level in the open air as it was pretty full. Was a really windy day and when I went to get out, I didn't think to make sure I had a good grip on the door handle and...

    197 front coil spring

Sounds like a good deal, I paid >50% more to swap one.......:zomg:

    197 front coil spring

Cost me £102 for spring and £165 to fit it at local Renault dealer, so £267 all in......... Started off at nearer £200 for labour :s I was a bit stuck as MOT runs out tomorrow and car is booked in for 5 year service / belts on Saturday. Needed to get it through MOT to get it to other garage...

    197 front coil spring

Same as what it is costing me, just over a £100 notes for front spring and couple of hundred to fit it. Maybe I should save myself a a few hundred quid and spend £8k px it for a clio 200?

    197 front coil spring

I thought it, but was worried someone might say it would better to change both springs! :( Going to struggle to afford it at minute what with everything else (insurance, tax, MOT, o/s/f coil spring + fitting, service, belts etc) :nope: Daft question, but should they be ordered in pairs as...

    197 front coil spring

Car failed its MOT due to snapped front offside coil spring:thumbdown: Getting a new one fitted at local dealers and just wondered if anyone knew the job / book time for fitting one of these? Was originally quoted close to £200 (3 hours labour)! Managed to barter them down a bit, but price is...

The big one - 5 year service

It's almost due on my 197 so been ringing round for some prices. I thought it was going to be expensive, but blimey :zomg: Couple of things that I'd appreciate some advice on: Whilst not part of the service, should I get the water pump changed at the same time. Is it worth it in terms of...

197: dealer cambelt change - harrats ponte

I'd be interested to know the price also as mine will be due beginning of March and if possible based on price would prefer to maintain a full Renault service history (nothing against independents), but just in case anything goes wrong in the future and I need to ask for a goodwill gesture :)

    4th service!

£200 at a main dealer (after price matching local specialist). Not 100% convinced they did the brake fluid or coolant though.........

    Dents

Got an annoying one on the nearside rear quarter right on the crease in the panel. No idea when it happended or who did it, but I now look for it everytime I walk up to the car :( I was told it would be a pain to sort so if I could live with it then best to leave it. Any thoughts if this is...

    Door Lock Button Fail

Had this problem tonight on the driver side button, but when I tried the passenger side and the boot they wouldn't lock the car either! Had to use the key card. Tried it 1/2 hour later and working again. If it goes completely will it be expensive to sort?
