gotta agree with mikeh, you've always got to check them after a few hundred miles , just like you would with new wheels, they always 'bed- in' to some extent, did you put some copper slip on the centres to help them on?abd on the wheels also?

autoglym vinyl and rubber care spray often makes plastics look like that, we get it a lot at work, usually another application of the same spray ,all over and rubbed in usually gets rid of it its only about a fiver, so worth a go
