Tractor Boy

Lifeless compared to what Mes ?

Cars in its peer group; or some more serious metal you’ve owned / driven / currently have at your reside.

Which to be fair ‘we’ shouldn’t be comparing against. Should we ?

My other two have pretty spectacular steering, one of them pretty much as good as money can buy so it would be an unfair comparison.

But as a fair match up, you’ve driven a Mk2 Clio right? You must have noticed how much more connected the steering felt? It’s just one of those things you have to put up with in modern motoring. And honestly, it’s the only thing I wish I could improve about the 197/200 cars. Apart from more power and torque obviously.

Wow mate

Tractor Boy is awesome really, every mod you done is fantastic and spot on! and these are similrish mods i would like to make with mine in due time, well on this path of subtle changes, i think. thanks again for a great right up and awesome r27

Just wanted to add my two pennies worth to this statement.
I drove my friend’s Ph2 172 the other weekend and I was instantly hit with hot hatch nostalgia. Steering is as you describe, even though it wasn’t the fastest, the overall experience was such good fun.
The Mk3, well, we all know how that feels and I agree with the point you make.
Just remember that things could be a lot worse; the Mk4 will leave you feeling pretty numb [emoji14]

Thanks so much mate. It's coming together now. Almost where we want it. Apart from more power of course but we're out of luck on that one with these cars.

Looking forward to watching yours progress.

It's just the nature of the beast mate eh? Electric power steering will never feel as good as something that is directly connected to the front wheels. In the Mk3 it's very vague around the centre point especially. But overall it feels gutsy enough. I've driven worse. Just I know it would be better without all the electronics as per the earlier cars.

And no matter what you say about the Mk4, I'd still really love one. Especially a Trophy.

@Sean197

Nice one for those mate. Don't they look good?

That's just about what we're aiming for, with a couple of slight extras. Maybe. Mrs M is wanting to retain as close to an OEM look as possible. If it was left up to me I'd have quilted details in the centres and a blue leather strip detail in the middle of the very front portion of the seat.

Whatever she decides on, it's going to feel like a new car inside.

Bugger me! Absolutely beeeeeeautiful!

But the question is, are they better than toilet paper or should I order some carbon effect ones from Australia???

:drunk:

Really can't wait mate. The seats have needed attention for a little while now. Glad she's finally going to go for it. And then some!

Should come out alright I think! :thumb:

The smell. Don’t forget the smell. I love it every time I open my door.

Sure. You could argue buying the seats and then getting re-trimmed is dead money on one hand: but on the other I reckon I’ve saved over £6 on air fresheners already....

BIG moves mate. And when the day comes it’s all so worth it.

I’m excited for you....

Buy the conditioner. Once every six months or so. Worth it for the smell alone! Knowing you as I do mate, you'll love the hell out of it.

There's a guy called Recaro Max, he's on ebay and FB, he does covers posted:

https://www.facebook.com/RecaroMax1/

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RECARO-Sportster-CS-Upholstery-Kit-Ambla-Leather-/263533521815?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&nma=true&si=vOIq%2Bmmclemo575AQCThTIyNZg4%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Does seats like this, it is in Ambla, but he can also do leather, he even does a Ambla / Alcantara mix!

Have a look at his FB at the BMW motorsport Recaro CS that he has done!

Thanks Suj mate, worth a look. :thumb:

’Ambla’ itself is a trade term for industrial quality / hard-wearing ‘plastic’ seat coverings. For reference....

Also what most Recaros come covered in I think! And many many shoes.

Only £25 difference per seat compared to leather too...
