Matt's track/nurburgring RS250 Clio f1

So snetterton was an absolute wash out yesterday but not did i have fun!!! Clio was absolutely unreal. I couldn't get any form of heat in to the federal 595rsr even with the pressures up to 40psi to get the tread blocks hot so zero grip. I didn't mess around with the damping just let it all on the middle setting and just enjoyed the car. Had issue with her getting hot and re bled the cooling system and after that absolutely no dramas. Lost throttle maybe 3-4 times during the entire day including getting there and back but again only when I came to a standstill so maybe I can live with that for a while. She held her own against 400+ bhp cars on road tyres (which you definitely needed yesterdsy)

I'm a happy man. Very hard to compare to Megane due to conditions but feels very similar.

Spot on Matt, glad you had fun! Spa looks like it could be a wash out too next week which will be interesting with the amount of serious kit booked on...

Where’s your boot net from? Need something similar!

Wouldn't dropping the pressure bellow the normal help more?
From my experience, lower pressure increases the contact patch (thus more friction and temperatur) and allows more deflection in the sidewall to make the tire less snappy on adherence loss.

I've always been told by friends that race that in the wet you want pressures high so the tread blocks move not the sidewall. Once the tread blocks move they get heat faster. Must say was better with higher pressures

Thanks for the words lads, in the dry the rsr aren't a bad tyre but I personally prefer ad08r both in wet and dry. In the dry with proper semi slicks I think this has a chance at being quicker around a lap then the Megane

Boot net was an Audi one I had in my ttrs which I kept and use in my Mk5 GTi daily but thought I'd try it and worked a treat

Nice one! Always good to keep hold of. Could you get a decent photo of it showing where you’ve got it hooked to when you’ve got 5 mate? No rush.

Awesome photos and project Matt. Looks like a complete hoot to drive.

It might have been mentioned previously in the thread but how does this car measure up weight wise to your Meg 250?
