Occasional loss of throttle - 250 engine

Hi all

I am having an occasional loss of throttle when I coast up to a stop. The pedal can go straight to the floor but the car just idles.

When you stop and restart the car the car reverts back to normal.

I have been told that this is a fault that can occur when running the 250 engine. I have already changed the pedal and throttle body for another 250 one but no joy.

Next step is to try and mate a R26 throttle body to the 250 inlet.

Has anyone had any experience of doing this mod before? Would it be easier to machine an adaptor plate or chop down a 250 & R26 inlet and reweld with the R26 throttle body connected?

Any ideas/help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Any fault codes showing on an obd reader?

I'd be checking sensors before changing the throttle body.

No it doesn't throw up any fault codes.

After speaking to a reputable tuner, they reckon the 250 throttle body is going slightly out of range causing the fault.

Ah ok. Well if you need a 225 inlet to butcher I have a spare one (bare)which I can sell you for a few quid.

Sorry for jumping this but anything come of this? I'm having same issue and about to sort out fitting r26 throttle body so any info etc would be great

I run the 250 throttle body, without any problems. I would put it on a reader first. before doing anything else.I have found, something like a brake pedal sensor, can cause the dashboard to light up like a Xmas tree!.

That's interesting, I wonder what Glenn did to stop the issue he was having. I don't have any faults come up on the dash

Glen had a map put on it, knocking power back to std 250map.( Only knew this, when car was remapped) This only covered it up, but did not cure basic problem, which was due to sensors, overheating due to fan wrong way round/thermostat/two bad solenoids/boost leaks/and quite a few other problems.I only bought it, because I knew what it could be like, once all the problems were fixed. Now all fixed, remapped, goes very nicely thank you!.
