R27 track car build- engine refresh time.

No problem. I will be putting cage in hopefully end of this month. Any chance you could share the drawings so I can get something made up? Don't worry if not.

Also, did you damage your screen getting the cage in? Have heard that it a pig of a job, and likely to crack the front screen.

No lol if u damage ur screen your doing it wrong I had no trouble removing it from cup racer and no problem fitting it. I fitted it with a mock up cell box that wasn't sunk into the floor which was no problem. Iv got to take it back out and fit it again with new seat mounts to make sure it can come out. Oh and you don't need to cut the dash bar  @J90RDN pm me if u get stuck

Done some more work last night for a seat rail kit.

Thanks - will be interested in seat rail kit if you're selling them if it comes in lighter than the setup I've just bought.

Get me the full weight I can calculate the weight of an assembely in solid works. Yes there going up for sale once I'm happy with the design of sidemounts

So ....

Things have been very quiet on the Renault front. Working on another business last few month I haven’t had time to even look at it. Down scaling my workshop to fund a business venture is the man aim till March. So right now I’m setting up a workshop at home and Evo and clio are in storage for a while, but that’s another story.

So last weekend I went through my spec and looked at what I want and where I want to be this year. Firstly I’m booked in for interior paint work Easter and as that comes up I need to finish the fab work so I’ll be concentrating on this up until Easter. One thing I added to the list is airjacks. Yes I know there not needed but they are so handy especially in the pits. With that in mind and the car not here I decided to start some stainless fabwork an a trolley so I ordered some bends and they arrived last night. Mocked some difrence ideas up and saw I was out of filler rod. Today hopefully my air bottle will turn up. I need to look at filling it up myself but I’ll save that for a different day so for the next week or so I’m concentrating on this trolley setup.

Here is somthing you m going for but for 1k plus I think not plus I think I can make a better design.

Mocked up a quick handle

So today when the air bottle turns up I think I will have a better idea about my design.

More tonight.

Any news on rear suspension setup with cage mount yet? Need to get my arse into gear and get my cup cage in.

Did wonder about adjustability of your first mounts, you would have zero adjustment. I fitted these in the Impreza nice easy off the shelf solution and still gives fore and aft adjustability with holes drilled in the seat side mounts.

I'd suggest Tommy built the last mounts to be non adjustable since they were race car spec. When installing seats in a race car you want them to be fixed position (suited of course to the seat dimensions) as it's not just down to the driver position but to the weight placement in the car to achieve a better balance and improve handling. This does of course mean that a fixed pedal position would cause problems especially since it's likely there are multiple drivers. This is the reason for an adjustable pedal box position often designed on sliders, since you're no longer moving the seat you're moving the pedal position to accommodated the driver instead.

Yes as above im not really looking for if the shelf items I’m going to find optimum position for the seat and run a pedal box. My main aim is to show my fab work off not be a demon tweets catalogue if u get me.

As for rear sus nothing concrete yet. But I do have some plans just not been able to execute them just yet. So for now I’m gonna get this trolley wrapped up.

I have raced an Impreza for years and those seat mounts are simple and effective. The side mounts are mounted to them and hard bolted. The adjustability comes from the fore and aft holes in the side mounts. I also had a pedal box but removed it and reinstated the standard servo and master cylinder with an AP bias valve in the rear circuit for adjustability. I was also about to reinstall the abs as non abs cars are never as fast on track in the wet as abs equipped cars you just cannot brake as late.

If I was to run abs at a later date it will be a Bosch unit that can be mapped
I agree that the likes of the Bosch M4 kit is a superb piece of equipment but at a min of £5k for the clubman kit there is far better ways to make your car quicker than that. I intend to use the standard abs and use the Syvecs from the Impreza to control either throttle bodies or a turbo set up and use the syvecs for traction control. If I was going to spend £5k to make the car faster it would be spent on a sequential box not a Bosch abs kit.

Have to say Fabrication looks absolutely top notch.

Agree if I had 5k tomorow I’d go sadev. But for now I’ll be running a pedalbox bias valve and no abs. There’s always scope in the future to change things and it’s what I’m building for me. There’s plenty of other jobs to do than wirrying about pedal boxes and seat positions.

What are you planning subframe wise, tubular/adjustable ?
Yes tubular subframe not really adjustable maybe sawp some geometry around after testing Mf but I want it mainly to loose weight and be able to run a blade arb setup that will be adjustable so I’ll see after I get a decent set of coil overs and some seat time at Caldwell in summer need to put a few hundred laps in of hard testing on the subframe.

Would be interested in this if you decide go make another once u are happy with it. Good weight saving to be made with this lots of them available for front and rear of Impreza''s and Evo''s. Are you going to use T45 ?
