Ali's Albi 197

Not much to report on the meg conversion, nearly ready to go but need a hand with the wiring so waiting on that really. Done a few bits anyway, bit of tidying up and fresh clutch and slave cylinder mainly. Want to get everything ready to plug in and play before I start so I can hopefully get it done in a few days....probs won't though:tearsofjoy:

Few panels sprayed up

Threads on the coils stripped so repaired it with a helicoil insert

New slave cylinder in and pre filled with fluid

Fresh clutch in too. The one that came out looked very new but its got a fresh one now and the slave was knackered so glad I did it

Decat pipe lagged and bolted on

good progress..if i can advise you,try heat wrapping you exhaust manifold too..will help with the temperatures...

Very nice - when you planning to drop it in then?
Next couple of weeks hopefully, wanna get the majority of it done asap as I'm driving it to spain in January and want it suitably tested before i set off!!

Just the wiring loom which I've not got anywhere with. I'd planned on doing it myself to keep the costs down but no one seems willing to give up the info, and i can't be arsed to strip them both down and trace all the wires back so might just bite the bullet and pay someone

Spain sounds an epic drive. In anything to be fair. But better still in a Clio3-T. I'm really jealous....what an epic road-trip. Think of the sights you'll see.......

Good luck with the wiring !

Cheers lads. Hopefully it'll make it if I've bolted everything on properly :tearsofjoy:

Did the same trip last year, was pretty epic. The amount of people I had waving at me through france was mega! They loved it

Started stripping the Clio ready for the meg swap! Reasonably straight forward, worst bit is the suspension bits and getting the driveshafts out. Ran out of daylight today but just need to undo the clutch line and a few connectors then it should come flying out.

I've put new boots on all the new shafts, and new input seals for the gearbox.

Sending the ECUs off on monday for the immobilizer swap. The only thing I'm still drawing blanks with is the loom, spoke to various people and most just don't want to know! Quite bizarre and its winding me up a bit cos I'm gonna need it soon, so if anyone can put me in the right direction it'd be much appreciated!

And she's out! Fairly straight forward, bit of wiggling and it came out no problem. Then the next job was to get the manifold out, one bolt and it fell out. I then removed the catalytic converter and put the clio decat in place. This will be measured and cut to size when the meg engine is in place, then mated to the meg link pipe.

Then I swapped the clio gear linkage for the meg one, and installed Powerflex bushes all round. Gave the chassis legs a good going over with black hammerite too as they were starting to rust. Swapped the clio cam cover over to the meg engine too then it bolts straight in. Then just a general degrease of the engine bay.

Also sent the looms off for modifying, ta to @Pav for that one!

Next to do is heat shielding and new gearbox seals, then once the loom and ECU comes back the meg engine can go in. So far so good...

Its finally in!

So the list of bits to do now include:

Sort the gear selector mechanism out (its fouling on something)
Sort the heater matrix pipes to the bulkhead
Extend and fit vacuum hoses
Cut and fit clio decat and meg down pipe
Fit gearbox mount/battery tray and plug in remaining loom
Gearbox and engine oil in
Mount rads and mock intercooler up

Respect where it is due! Fair play Ali, admire you doing it yourself. I'd never have the first clue where to begin...
