Benno's UR197 & Meg 250

Yep! Me being naive with all this stuff led me to think it was just a "high performance car thing"..

Going to get my mechanic who is doing the work on it to have another look for any patches of oil, if none are found then it could be investigation work..[emoji1304][emoji383]

Better safe than sorry. Hopefully a cheap fix.

Ah so you ordered your wheel and the gaiter to - hopefully seeing mine actually helped you decide..and the gaiters a win to for the money, really happy with mine.

Plate looks good, glad you went with standard plate not a pressed or gel set - I have had my eye on one for ages, but theres always something else to spend that money on ie mot yesterday, conservatory roof cleaned today...petrol lights on on my daily to...shite.

Fingers crossed you get the MOT box ticked and those upgrades fitted.

Hopefully get your oil issue sorted, mine has always been fine, but then having my mot done yesterday I can see in figures ive covered just over 2k miles in a year...and ive owned it a year!.

Dont forget you need to order some new seats to...also strip out the rears.....you know you want to.....

So I went to Shrewsbury today for my interview, all went well so things are progressing in terms of my short hop to Geneva for 5-6 months (hint hint @kevlar back on babysitting duties soon:wink:)...

Can't bring myself to get rid of her, can honestly say I had one of the best drives today, stayed off the motorway for most of it and had a good blast..still getting 28mpg!

Not much to really update apart from the fact I have oil in her now! Thanks to @renaultpartsdirect for sorting so quickly for me to collect same day. Took a fair bit, so a little investigation needed tomorrow along with the rest of the work that's FINALLY being done!!!! MOT too, so should be sweet for a little paintwork TLC, detail and caliper painting before Trax. Should be bye bye number plate tomorrow evening too...!

glad your interview went well..are you selling??:weary:

Cheers Pav. No way! The only time I'd sell is if in April 18 I decided to stay permanently. But I really don't think that will happen, would have to be seriously special for that. I'm 99% sure I'll be back (if I go! It might not happen yet..) and 6 months out there on good money should save me a nice large amount...possibly for a Raider...possibly a Meg conversion...possibly put towards a mortgage. Who knows?

Theoretically looking at the car staying insured over here with someone so that I can have my 3rd year NCB just after I come back, rather than chucking it inside somewhere. Would rather it be used a little and cared for by someone who knows the car!

So it went to the garage this morning for all pre-MOT work plus fingers crossed a fresh ticket.

So James the mechanic lent me my old Audi back (A3 2.0tdi PD140 Quattro S-Line), my god I do miss the torque of a diesel..but apart from that I don't miss it at all. Heavy, can't rev for more than a second without changing gear..but the Bose sound system is good inside...much better than my tinny Cabasse speakers! Soon to be changed I think!

If all goes well, private plates will be on tonight/tomorrow too!

P.S. please everyone keep your fingers crossed for me, I can't do it, shut the Audi door on my finger very stupidly and ended up breaking it.....

So, good news. There is a 12 month ticket in the car, free of advisories and whatnot!

Springs and spacers are on, along with the rear caliper, didn't give it a proper drive as I didn't fancy it, especially with my little hospital trip today. Exhaust heat shields were all out of place, however that's been rectified and my rattles seem to have all but cleared.

Looks absolutely amazing how it's sat now, will get a quick shot of it tonight but proper pics to follow when I can get a glove over my bad hand to wash it and Hammerite the spacers and discs, got to keep the dressing dry I've been told!! :censored:

Great news on the new ticket bud. Looking forward to seeing how it sits!
Sorry bout your digit getting bust! How on earth did you manage that??

Your guess is as good as mine...I'm always making sure I'm clear of the door before I shut it, this time obviously not...then bang. Didn't just bounce off, door shut all the way...honestly thought I'd taken the top off.

Luckily just a broken finger and fooked nail, probably a week or so off work though..

Got a quick photo, not great but you can really tell the difference!

PMPL + LMAO @ NSFS. Classic !

Brilliant news on the fresh ticket, spring and spacer fitting along with the caliper.

And the ride-height / arch gap difference is wholly obvious. And looks fantastic comparing it to your earlier pics. Very nice - you sound really pleased with it too

How on Earth you managed to crush you finger i cant imagine. What i also cant imagine is the pain. I have a phobia of crushing / breaking digits (Goes with territory of my work). Honestly i'd rather lose an eye. I hate it !

Rubber gloves and a clean up / caliper painting session tomorrow it is then :sunglasses:

Wondered how long it would take you to notice [emoji6]

Thanks mate, even just driving back from the garage it seems to handle SO much better. Good job as well, my mechanic had to strip near on the entire front suspension setup to change the springs apparently!!

My finger is literally throbbing, feel like a Grade A twat. Going to grab some spray on Hammerite, at least I can get a bit of it done whilst down to 9 digits!

Just want to get most of it done before Trax so that it looks half tidy...never going to be spot on but I'd like a little less silver and a little more black on there before the show.

I had a laugh to myself when you messaged me last night i can imagine the pain though...ouch.

We had a similar spec A3 years back and yeh while its comfy etc its so boring to drive you probably switched off as its so boring compared to the 197 hence shutting finger in door.

Anyhow week off work is a good result and cars looking very good like the spacers a lot from the photos something i have wondered about doing, but lots of negative reviews from people on here has put me off I know you had same thoughts as me.

MOT done is a blessing to.

Haha yeah I'm laughing about it or I'll cry I think!![emoji23]

Unfortunately a week has become two weeks banned from driving by the doc, concerned with my lack of strength in my hand and arm...trust me to do the job properly..!

Will bring it over to you when it's sorted, it's been noted that there is a slight knock somewhere on the front end, possibly engine mounts so needs to head back up to the garage for a going over...
