Well my problem has went from Bad to good and now utter sh8t.

All Mk3 tail gates have went back order from Renault UK & Renault France with no date given.
Im now over 7 days without a car but as its a warranty issue I told RUK that I wanted a courtesy car so I have been given a Renault Twingo 900cc Turbo with 90bhp.

I will be keeping the twingo until my car is ready at the cost of RUK.

I have known about this for awhile, put my application in with Vospers who took photos to send off to Renault UK early June, still awaiting a reply. I hope its not 100k and just 12 years (cars on 110k now) saying that my BMW was repaired (a whole new rear arch and bonnet) under warranty and that was 122k with mixed service history. The chap I spoke to yesterday at Vospers said Renault are not as fussy as others with service history. We shall wait and see.

My other halfs is being sorted, repaired not replaced though...

Do you have any contact details for Renault uk? I would like to ask why they are fixing these in warranty and Finland renault would not fix. Just for intrest..
I am so angry about this because it is obvious manufacturing fault. Renault Finland says that it has to be rotten through for bodyguarantee. Paint warranty is only 3 years.
It is not paint problem..

Hi There,

Renault UK will only deal with cars in the UK and I have been told that under no circumstances will they take into account websites, forums, people talking and anything else to make a decision as each case is made on its own merits and its down to the Renault warranty team and nothing more.

One example is that I tried to claim for my roof rails bubbling due to corrosion in the alloy strip but Renault UK knocked it back, The same week a friend of mine in England spoke to Renault UK and claimed his and his went through with no issues and he got two new roof rails painted and fitted free from Renault uk.
I tried to fight my case and had no luck as I was told every case is different and looked at on its own merits and it would not matter if I had a list of 500 people or 3 people on my side.
Once renault uk make a decision they will not go back on it and it can not be claimed again.

A 57 plate car has warranty bodywork anti corrosion warranty to 2019 if I recall but bumpers, trims , strips & plastics are not covered in this.

--------------

Now for the Aug update of my tailgate.

Keith from Renault UK who has been dealing with this for over 2 months has decried that he no longer wants to work in that department and he had never told me so I have now had to chase Renault UK along with my Renault bodyshop while sitting in Mexico.
I got a text from my new Renault UK manager saying that the tailgate was back order and still no date was given as she checked with France but yet I have a bodyshop in Scotland (UK) telling me that the tailgates are now in stock and it can be ordered from Monday 7th Aug.

I sent Renault UK an e-mail on Monday the 7th from Mexico as I'm currently on holiday and I have still not had a reply from this and its now rocking on Friday 11th.

Once again its myself thats been chasing all these people and even then they don't know there ar$e from there elbow.

Once I get home from Mexico (Another 2 weeks) there is going to be some interesting e-mails as I have the e-mail addresses for
Vincent Tourette who is the CEO of Renault UK along with Paul Flanagan who is Managing Director & also Mark Crockett who is Director Of Total Customer Experience.

This has been the biggest mess I have ever seen for a MK3 tailgate.

Mine is like it too, only noticed today. Wonder if My local monkeys/vospers will be of any help. Would be nice to get a new boot as mine has a dent right on the crease. :tearsofjoy:

Best thing you can do is go through Renault UK and the reason being is that it's documented from the moment you make contact.

I will however stress that renaukt Uk have told me that only an approved renault dealership with bodyshop can do the work hence the fact I'm pissed off as I have a 30.4 mile trip there and the same back so all in all a 60mile round trip when there is a bodyshop 10mins up the road from me that does renault dealership work.

I had my claim for a tailgate submitted and approved a couple of weeks back and the tailgate arrived in stock on Tuesday.

I am so sick and tired to pay anything for renault dealership because bodywarranty is joke. At least here in my country.
I will do service for my self in future.

Expecting an update from the person dealing with my claim today, I have submitted a claim, been to the bodyshop for photos and inspection - the guy was then sending the photos to Renault UK last week. Very good communication so far (fingers crossed, it stays this way)

I find it really ridiculous that Renault can approve some, but not others. They clearly have a problem and have accepted it in some cases but not others - which as a company is utterly stupid. They should have decided not to approve any from the start or approve them all.

Really hope they approve mine as it will possibly determine if I stick with the Renault Sport brand in the future - not that they'll care about one customer.

My 200 has some rust forming under the rear wiper. I didn't get any service history with the car but it was bought from an Evans Halshaw dealer, currently on 50k and a 60 plate.

Any point in me chasing Renault for this?

Mine is starting to bubble, I think I'll just get it sorted myself tbh.

No point in sorting it yourself as I'm sorry to say that rust is like cancer, Once you have it you more or less have it for life.
Renault do not repair the tailgates , They fully replace them with newer tailgates so its well worth going through the warranty route and doing it that way.

If you repair it yourself and 6months later the rust comes back you will not get a warranty claim as you have done it yourself.
It has to be inspected with paint depths , pictures and all also all my bolts where checked to see if the tailgate had been taken off at any point.

My car has a mix match of service from main dealers to specialists but non the less its not always about keeping the servicing within a Renault dealership, Along as genuine OE or OE Spec parts have been used there is nothing they can do or say about it as its still within its spec.

My car is a 57 plate and like many others I chased it up and I'm getting a new tailgate from them so its well worth it, What I would strongly advise for anyone willing to do this go directly through Renault UK and get a customer support manager as this builds a much bigger case and proves that there is an issue with the tailgates.

After it going so well and Renault replying very quickly I've had a very frustrating couple of weeks followed by an even more frustrating email today.

The person dealing with my claim went on holiday a couple of weeks ago so I was passed over to someone else who attempted to contact me once (which I missed as I was working) I attempted to call back 3 times and was told they were 'busy' and I was promised on 3 occasions that I would get a call back which I didn't. I emailed the original person dealing with my claim yesterday for an update to which I never got a reply.

Strangely I have just had an email from the Harratts Renault bodyshop today, I had sent pictures over to them a few weeks ago as that's what the manager on the phone asked me to do when I called for an appointment and he said he would then forward these over to Renault UK for me. I thought these had already been sent over to Renault but clearly not as the email read as follows:

Good Morning Mathew

Please can you send me a copy of the service history of the vehicle

in order to maintain the vehicles corrosion warranty it must have its anti corrosion checks carried out every 12 month by the Renault dealer network

once i have this information I can send the info to the Renault dealership, who raise a case with Renault Warranty

Kind regards
Phil

Now while my car has full service history, I know that the anti corrosion checks haven't been done (at least in my ownership) but I am fully aware that plenty of people have had this issue sorted even without the corrosion checks.

So after this long post (apologies) I just really want some advice as to what my best options are in terms of replying to the email as I really don't want the guy at the bodyshop refusing to send the pictures and info over when I say I'm not sure if the car has had the corrosion checks.

Thanks! Matt

My local dealer (Vospers) is telling me my tailgate will be REPAIRED and not REPLACED. Anyone have any idea if this is right? I was hoping for a new tailgate, not just because of the rust but because of the holes left over by the Cup spoiler.

Hi Matt,

Once again you need to be on the ball with Renault UK, Do not deal with the dealers or the bodyshop directly and deal with Renault UK.
Let them book you into a dealership at a time when it can be checked by a bodyshop manager and where he can take the pictures and paint depths and send them to the Renault UK warranty team.
I have never once showed my service book or had any photo copy's take of it.

Please take note that the Renault UK warranty team will decide if its warranty or not and once they have made there mind up there is no going back.

I also tried to fight my case using another case with every detail from the owner, the car and even right down to the date and time Renault uk contacted him but Renault state and stick to there guns when they say that "Renault Uk base there cases individually and DO NOT take into account any other cases or warranty work carried out on cars regardless of what information you have"

My local dealer (Vospers) is telling me my tailgate will be REPAIRED and not REPLACED. Anyone have any idea if this is right? I was hoping for a new tailgate, not just because of the rust but because of the holes left over by the Cup spoiler.

Its down to the Renault UK warranty team and if they choose to only repair it thats all they will do. Can you tell me if it was you that put the spoiler on or if it came with one from factory as I know that if there has been any repairs, drilling , painting or the tailgate has been removed Renault UK warranty team are more than likely going to decline warranty work.

As I say before going directly to a dealership is not the best call Renault UK and open up a case and get them to book you into a bodyshop and then get the bodyshop manager to deal with it all

Well an update from me.

I dropped my car off on Sat 16th to my Renault bodyshop and was given a spanking new 17 plate courtesy car from Renault UK
The work was to be carried out from Monday 18th Sep until Friday 22nd Sep and I would once again collect the car on Saturday 23rd.

The tail gate has been at the dealership for the last two/three weeks and when they went to replace it for the new item that had been in stock it was damaged.
They then ordered one for Tuesday morning which arrived once again damaged, they re-ordered one again for today (Wed 20th Sep) and it arrived this morning and guess what "IT WAS DAMAGED AGAIN"
My car is still sitting in limbo as they are not willing to put a damaged tail gate on the car or fill a tailgate with body filler.

As you can imagine I have not been a happy customer as this is now knocking on a 6/7 month repair via Renault UK warranty and the bodyshop.

I speak with my Renault Uk case manager at least once a week and I have spoke with her yesterday and then again today when I got the bad news from the bodyshop. Im now awaiting a call from her tomorrow which she has promised.

I could go into all the small in's and out's and detail's of whats happened and whats been said but there is over 6 months of it.

I would like to point out that I am getting a spanking new tailgate from Renault UK and that the tailgate will be fitted to the car and NOT repaired.

I would also like to point out that Renault Uk state that all cases are looked at differently and on a one on one basis where they will not look into another case and they will not change there mind once the warranty work has been approved or declined.
