KTR Remap

Done some searching, apologies if this has been answered already.

Researching 200Ts ahead of a purchase in Sept/Oct, and 100% will get a remap. KTR are very close to me and worked on a prev meg, anyone with a 200T had a remap from them?

RST is the preferred option, but at other end of the country so looking at KTR as an option pending feedback.

Not the answer you are wanting to see as I have zero experience of that Tuner.

I have to travel over 300 miles for mine but well worth it, I'll just put my mpg data up as well

Thanks @Womble, not robbing at all, been looking at your posts etc and comments around tuning for a while. All really useful and inspiring.

Can't say I'll be tuning as far as you have, those days are behind me with my old 200sx, but I can't leave a car stock, its not right.

Current car is 200bhp and 300lbft, but derv, so getting anywhere remotely near at 250 bhp/lbft would be great, but being sensible at same time.

Just spoken to KTR and answered my own question. They don't have a publicly available map yet, but will do soon

Ill put my pennys worth in I live near Heathrow my Meg was done by Paul at RST and if he gets a 220T map sorted I'll go back to Leeds again. For me being a old git it's trust and I trust PAUL at RST

I'm travelling 4 hours to Leeds for a remap. Engine dynamics know what they're doing with engines and builds etc but for mapping I'm taking it all the way to Paul as he's done plenty of these cars with no issues and all good reviews.

@Womble i saw yours on RST facebook page. That's very impressive. And Paul says the clutches are doing just fine, which is mega. How's the car to drive? Any wheel spin on dry? I just cant imagine 280 HP in a clio. Mine was stock and did about 185 on a dyno.

Oh your consumption is so low I almost can't believe it

It's great to drive, not a massive change from 244, most of the power in these cars is low down which suits the tall gearing. If you overlay the graphs you don't really see much change until 4500 rpm over what I had, these cars fly with a "good" remap and carefully selected mods. To go any bigger on Turbo size than the 220 will result in power at the top end but nothing at the bottom end, because of the tall gearing. Keeping the exhaust small and increasing the inlet is what helps these cars.

Wheel spin in the dry? Wheel spin in the wet? I don't know how to answer that question, my foot is attached to my leg which is controlled by my brain which gets feedback from various sensors in my arms and bum, it progressively feeds power in so these are not really a problem, also the electronic diff works really well, sorry cheeky reply but hours upon hours on the road and track learn you these skills. DON'T get rid of the factory dump valve it works with the traction control and it is better than these after market contraptions.

Mpg again I use the car everyday, it commutes to work in Auto and we usually have a bit of a spirited drive in Sport manual on the way home. At the weekend it gets a good amount of mixed spirited driving, unless it is in bits getting jobs done. I have 2 apps on my phone that I religiously enter the data into when I refuel.

To me RS Tuning have put the time into my car and others, Paul has worked out how the cars go and what shuts them down, hence other maps you see dips in the graphs. It is a 6 hour round trip for me, and I have done a few, but finding tuners that are prepared to get the car to work properly is not easy. Many people can flash cars, but not many tune cars for all round use.

Years ago I had a Focus RS mk1 and we were the first to crack 300 bhp on the stock Turbo, then we got to 330 bhp and 400 ftlb of torque on a car that covered 90,000 miles in my ownership did 30 mpg and it was many a night at 12am plus that we were fine tuning on the road, that Tuner is based in Fife and again hours of dyno time and road time, but I have to put the effort in as well. Last time at RS Tuning there was a car in from Europe, and people pay Paul to go to Aus and the Far East to tune cars.

I drove overnight to RST, and it took 9 hours, left RST at 4pm, and drove back, took 11 hours because of Friday night traffic, so had 43 hours before I got back to bed, but well, well.worth it.

Had mine in at ktec for suspension, intercooler and exhaust change a couple of weeks back and they asked if I'd be interested in them using the car to develop a map - unfortunately it was already mapped by RSTuning (only their generic map for the 200t so need to get an update at some point) so if you're after a map on the cheap give them a shout.....

What you mean a generic map? RS tuning do custom remaps... Or do you mean an rs tuner?

Well aware they also do custom maps which is why it'll need remapping now parts have been changed

it'll just be a map tweak rather than a complete remap, will only take about 30mins, if that, and cost a lot less than a full remap too.
