Throttle response

Takes me back to when my dephaser was faulty! If that was the case though, it would throw up a fault on the display after a few times of driving the car. Does the car idle ok or does it 'hunt' when warm? If it does then the timing is likely out.

Car idles rock solid when warm at 800-900 rpm. When started from cold it sits at 1100 ish for about 2 minutes then drops to 8-900 although it's a little erratic until it reaches the second temp marker.

On the plus side this morning it was a good drive in appears to be a different car (as in no loss of power/bogging down on pull away) after sealing the Map sensor..... Here's hoping

I have the same issue bud, I have owned the car for a few months and it does catch me out occasionally (although I have found it doesnt like to stall) I have come from a 2004 BMW 3 series which has zero lag. I think its a combo of things, there is definitely lag on the fly by wire throttle. Mine also improved once I changed the crankshaft pulley for a lightened one (almost a quarter of the weight of the original) so I think parisitic loss also plays a small part.

I dont particularly want to throw money at my car but I am thinking a sports cat and remap to get the best out of it.

Lightened Crankshaft Pulley sounds quite interesting may have to have a look into that.....

Car still behaving itself after resealing the MAP sensor, apart from the laggy throttle so pretty pleased. I guess its 30 odd years of driving cars with a throttle cable and trying to get used to fly by wire.

Thanks for everyones help.

Glad you've found an improvement mate. I did think that it seemed something a bit more than the "usual" rubbish response these cars have. Even better that it's something so simple and cheap to sort.

That map sensor is quite the outstanding bit of design huh?

So is the general consensus that a look MAP sensor makes a difference in the running? Anyone thought about making a bracket up to hold it down?

Redneck fixes ahoy!

It's all been cable ties and sealant so far mate. But it's such a delicate item, maybe a light touch is the best way to go anyway.

Having followed the various fixes for the Map sensor has anyone actually thought of cleaning it with electrical contact cleaner?

Also I am concerned about removing it without breaking -is there a foolproof way of teasing it out?

The reason I ask is that my very firm cable tie fixing has actually made it worse ,so I will go down the cleaning route plus sealant plus cable ties.

Failing that an updated re map.
