My Liquid Yellow R27 progress #172

Well this isn't making my decision easy...
my wheel is much thicker than standard and when I offered up the old trim there's no way the 2 halves would meet. It will take a bit of filing to get it to go on

Sorry Shane if I've confused things!!
I was sat in the passenger seat when jack popped mine back on. No fettling needed. Swear my wheel is thicker than it was. Bizarre

Which is exactly what i saw with mine and explained earlier.

And even if i filed, cut and shaped it - the sides wouldnt have met i don't think (Never got that far obviously).

Maybe mines been to Jack before and is now like 4 layers thick

Gave the interior a good clean yesterday as the weathers been hot. The seats and mats were filthy! Always like to do this when I get a car but hadn't got round to it.

Just need those bolsters repaired then the interiors done for now.

Also, the KTR induction kit arrived yesterday so I fitted that yesterday evening. Went on nicely, replaced the battery while I was there as the old one was getting a bit tired.

My god what a sound that induction kit makes! When @///M said it sounds like throttle bodies he wasn't lying!

Just waiting for a call back from Ktec regarding mapping, I'll be happier once that's done.

Although when I had the airbox out I couldn't help but notice the flexis in the manifold are past their best too. I kind of want to keep that bit standard with the cat though. Don't know how long it will hold out for

Them mats aren't gonna like grubby shoes !

Look fab though

Sorry to hear you might have the well documented flexi / manifold decision / repair or replace quandry coming up soon.

The only good thing is many of us have been there and you can draw on some experience.

Good luck........

The steering wheel won't like grubby hands either! Must be careful.

My job for the weekend is check all exhaust joints and seal (I know one is blowing slightly), re-hang rear boxes as they're slightly wonky, then I'll know if the flexi is blowing at all. If I do replace I think I'll replace with a standard part as I don't want it any louder!

Booked in for re-map at Ktec for 3rd August so can't wait for that!

Great news on the remap. The difference will be night and day i promise. You'll LOVE it.....

Good luck at the weekend. Wont be such a tortuous job if the sun shines and the job goes to plan.

Have a good one.

Thank you, yes I know but ktec is closer and a bit of a better drive. I was surprised they weren't mentioned as a go-to place for this, the 3 that were mentioned were RS Tuning, EFI and Engine Dynamics. Is there a reason for this or do I not want to know now?!!

You won't be disappointed with the BHP figure you get from the remap. KTec have a small reputation on here from being over generous:grinning:
Car should drive much better though

As long as it's mapped right I don't care too much about BHP! I take those figures with a pinch of salt, as long as it is better across the rev range and gets rid of that flat spot, which he's promised, I'll be happy!

You'll be happy then.

Car will be better across all revs, have more low down oomph and not suffer from cold start kangarooing as much.

*** plus make about 230bhp:grinning:

they're that optimistic are they?

I phoned a local VW/Audi tuning specialist just because he's in the same town and I took my Golf GTI there years ago. Surprised at the reply he said "you should have kept the Golf, well I suppose Renaults are a bit better than they used to be, nah I wouldn't want to touch it" I would have been happy with "thanks for the call but I haven't got the software" rude prick

I like my little Renault

i think that most people who have dealt with ktec were somehow disappointed..i myself ordered a clutch kit for my meg conversion and they sent me a wrong slave..didnt even bother to ask them for a replacement and got one myself..
think it all depends..a remap may a piece of cake with no issues..

Jeez that is rude!!
Smiles per pound the Clio wins hands down. You couldn't buy a golf for less than £5k and have half the fun that you get with a Clio.
I bet he's never driven a sorted 197/200 down a good 'b' Road?
