R27 track car build- engine refresh time.

Very nice, can't wait to see this come together, a lot work swaping it over to LHD though, the door bar bracing etc. I'd keep it LHD surly It would be worth more that way as a cup car shell.

We will see. I have just bought a 197 for track way so will see. I'll probably mint it and keep it lhd. Iv got a lot of parts to develop of it so we will see how it goes.

Little update. Bought a Clio lol.

So got it a decent price. The recaros have gone up for sale and will be getting taken out his weekend coming. Wet vaced and the fresh pictures taken.

All the door panels and interior quarter panels are getting flocked and the.mn put up for sale freshly flocked. If there are any intriour built people want please pm me.

Once all interior has been removed I will be fabricating an exhaust system which will be vband fitment and side exit. I'll be making a couple of centre sections with different silencer setups to see noise limits on track. Once the fabwork on the floor is done as it looked like I need to make an exhaust tunnel for the side exit.

Once that's done I'm going to be fitting a lithium battery and making all the cables fit nice and securely as well as for an fire extinguisher.

Hopefully bu Easter time I will have a week off to tackle a cage and I will be fitting a cc multipoint weld in cage. This work should take me around Easter and I have a few other jobs mainly maintainance like brakes and possibly a new clutch as well as all the carbon but that's not that important yet. I plan to take the little Clio to ten of the best and concentrate on the handling circuit and prey for a bit of rain and hopefully not to come last

Should also get my spare bonnet in primer this weekend ready for a good block.

So time for an update.

Clio is getting rested up she needs a clutch and a brake rebuild so thats on the cards in prep for totb. She getting moved over into the fab work side of my workshop as im preping her for a new twin side exit exhaust which i think i have mentioned well a batch of vibrant clamps turned up as well as silencers. As i keep the stainless in stock i will be making a few difrent combinations up and v banding the exhaust so i can swap over at the track.

Once that exhahauts is made i am turning my attention to preping for cage. Im going for a cup reacer cage but weld in. And in t45 so will be lightest availble but with a few extra bars to add. Im also just in the middle of making a seat tube kit with laser cut plates again from t45 cant be having no rats heavey box section

Speaking of cages i have my cup cage took out and be mesured up by laser ill be making rear and full cup cages to meet msa / fia standads in both t45 an cds

One there all done and fabed up ill look at plubming and paintint the interior and off for a map.

Can anyone recomend a clutch for track use only?

Oh and the cup shell will be of to get put on a jig next month so il await the results of that lol

So little progress on clio due to other commitments recently however I have made a start on the chassis wiring. Next up will be labelling the loom and ftiiing new connectors alon with covering the loom in loom braid to neaten it up. So far I have lost all the tailgate functions, all the airbags and unssesacery items that I don't need.

Clutch standard item is fine for track use. I kick the living daylights out of mine on track for a long period of time and never had problems.

Better pics of the speedlines I just got will fit them this weekend not sure bout the colour against blue but will see once fitted

Looks a fantastic job someones done on the rims ! And i think the contrast with these against the Blue will look swell personally. Not to mention you'll be somewhat 'unique' and wont spot "everyone else" coming towards you looking exactly the same !

Do you happen to know the name of the exact colour / shade....or a RAL number etc for reference ? Not for my wheels necessarily - but 'm quite taken with it

I seen those wheels for sale, they looked a good price, I was also umming and arring about the colour.

@sevenfourate the colour is Ford Stealth Grey, the colour you see on the newer Ford Focus STs

Sweet progress:smile:

A random question, have you got any OEM connectors you don't need by any chance?
What connectors in particular?

Yer it's the ford rs grey, wheels are ok but dry in places and a few bits of flaky paint but the reason why I'm ummming is I like my wheels to match the interior so I'd be painting inside and the cage the same but will see. Today I'm ordering new foot plates from rentune so hopefully by weekend I will have them tacked in place and have the rear of the cage in place before I start the box for the atl cell. But for now there's. I more been spent on it because I have a number of labour intesne jobs to complete i.e. Painting cage and interior and finishing fabbing the exhaust system now all my clamps have turned up so. Once them are done I'll be looking for coilovers and tidying up fuel lines and brake lines.
