Ken's RS 200 daily/trackday car

Been a month since I last updated, and again failure...

This time it's the well known exhaust collector that's cracked, the flexi joints are going out aswell.

1200€ to replace everything, just insane. I've already spent tons on this car and once again it let me down. Wanted to do a trackday on sunday, probably won't get it fixed in time.

If got an akrapovic exhaust, so no secundairy cat, which means I have to keep the pre-cat...so no aftermarket manifold :worried: would have bought the one on optimiz-acces otherwise.

Just spent a ton on all my cars, this was the last thing I needed to go wrong.

The exhaust collector is still in back order :chair:It's been 3 weeks now...

Since then it's been running worse and worse at very low revs (between 1,5 to 2,5k rpm), running to rich. You can actually smell the fuel out of the exhaust. So when you set off it stumbles a bit when cold.

I just hope the exhaust collector will fix it, otherwise i'll have to take the inlet manifold off. Actually I'll have to this anyway because it leaks oil from the valve cover on to the injectors. Might change to injectors aswell.

I'm tired of having problems likes this.

Been replaced recently:
-coils
-sparkplugs
-exhaust collector flexi joints
-exhaust collector gasket
-exhaust collector nuts
-exhaust collector clamp
-injectors, O-rings, clamps
-intake manifold gaskets
-MAP sensor
-Gasket VVT solenoïd

Comprehensive list of work right there !

Welding on the header flange and on the flexi's (Both of which arent easy to get too) looks top notch. Congrats and Kudos to whoever did that work........

Hows the car driving now after all that work ???

a little bit better, I still have issues with the respons. I'm looking at the short and long term fuel trim and it's not good. I'll be dropping it off at the grand master of diagnose. We're not sure where the problems lies.

Do tell ! ?

And good luck with that. You would have to think the chances of being a 'mechanical' fault are disappearing fast.....so some electronic / mapping tweaks could turn up trumps.

found the problem: burned and cracked an intake valve on cilinder n°3

So now we need to take the head of and replaced all the valves and maybe valvestemguides. Get the head refinished and put it all back together.

Having a finger on the problem is a big step forward Ken. Hope this sees you well on the road to a full (and preferably painless) recovery asap!
