Ultra Red Clio 200: Project Clubsport

Thanks! That's what I'm going for.

I didn't mention my f*ck up in the post above either...

I ordered OMP subframes which I knew were the lower of the two options (Sparco being the other) but I like to sit low in the car anyway. Anyway, I test fitted them this weekend and they're about an inch from the floor. :tearsofjoy: Being 5'7" this isn't going to work.

Called GSM Performance this morning who were equally amused by it all and we've agreed an exchange on a set of Sparco subframes. They're pretty much the same cost anyway. Ah well, lesson learned.
I've got the omp frames in mine (currently what my Pole Position is sat on) but I love it being that low and am dreading my new frames being too high.

I was thinking of red seatbelt's the other day as they would really suit the interior with the buckets.

I need the extra height from the Sparcos mate, with the OMP's I'd be far too low since I'm about 5'8" ish

Luckily GSM had no issues with the exchange so will be getting that sorted this week. I'm in no rush since the seats won't be here until the end of the month anyway.

Yeah, red seatbelts would look great. I've messaged the guy so we'll see what the price is like!

Ahmed Bayjoo, that's a name I've not heard in many years. He did my Escort.

Some good info there mate thanks a lot. Definitely looking at the options.
His legacy will most definitely live on mate! I remember chatting with him about a 6r4 that he sorted all the suspension out on to make it handle properly! The guy was a mapping genius and also a great chassis engineer, which is what he did before he went to the mapping side.

No worries at all mate! If you need anymore info just drop me a pm.

Haha! Whatever 174cm is in imperial

5'8 1/2, =

Loving the updates Chris, the alcantara bits are awesome, Jack did my old M3 wheel and quality is certainly outstanding. Bet you're itching to get your seats, they are a great mod, the sportster is already a pretty supportive seat but fixed backs are next level, give so much more confidence going into corners.

I bought a Cosworth from a guy who also had a 6R4 and reckoned it was an ex AB car. It certainly looked the part!

Taa again for the advice mate, I'll shout if I need anything :thumb:

Yeah I cannot wait. It'll have been about eight weeks since I've driven it by the time the seats are fitted, but my first drive will be down to the MOT centre since it'll expire whilst it's stood around. It'll be a great dive down though!

Enjoying reading this thread mate. Love the Clubsport look you're aiming at:grinning:

Thanks dude. Forgot to add that I finally removed my rear seatbelts at the weekend too. A bitch of a job by all accounts... sharp plastics everywhere and you have to basically strip all the rear out. Glad that's done though!

Saved a sweet 2kgs too. :tearsofjoy:

Great choice on the poles bro, I had them in my old FRS probably my favorite mod, best seats ever. Not sure the Mrs would let me put them in the Clio though. Love this thread.

Small update, as still no seats. :worried:

I sent back my OMP subframes and changed them for Sparco ones, as the OMP's sat too low for me.

I've also sourced some red seatbelts from a lad on RS197.200, so they'll be in the post this week! Chuffed with that! They'll really finish off the interior IMO. This but with red belts.

I had a few hours spare yesterday after being with the in-laws all weekend, so mocked up some rear spats from thick, satin 3M vinyl. They turned out pretty well I think. Not sure if I'll keep them, but they'll do a good job of protecting the arches from more damage.

That looks decent imo. With the offset you're running some protection is probably needed. Like the idea

Couldn't be arsed messing around with resistors etc, so just ordered a set of the plug/play ones from Capital.

£70 for some wires. Ouch. At least I'll not have issues with them for the MOT due on Star Wars Day. :pensive:

Seats have been once again delayed by Corbeau. Now looking at May 15th for shipment. Almost two and a half months after ordering...

A few extras turned up today, ready for the track/summer season:

Renaultsport trackday/show plates
2x Recaro resistor kits
Red RS seatbelts :sunglasses:
Larger satin black sunstrip (since the new seats will be a lot lower)
ARP stud conversion kit with anodised black nuts

I've also managed to borrow an OMP universal side mount from a friend, so all being well I'll be able to fit the borrowed Pole Position and go for a drive next week/weekend.

Every cloud!
