Chris's LY 200t.

Glad you managed to devote some time to the Clio in the end Chris  well worth the effort by the looks of that! That bay does definitely seem very 'busy' when it comes to cleaning!

Hope the domestic stuff went well too buddy

Spent a fair few hours this afternoon sorting out my arches/calipers and painting some rusty bits on the brake discs.

Went as follows:

  • Wheels removed - one at a time.
  • Plenty of wheel cleaner all over arches and callipers and left to soak (also on coilovers)
  • Iron X on calliper
  • Plenty of scrubbing to get caked on crap shifted!
  • Pressure washed off
  • Soaked wheels then same again with Iron X - used plenty of this today!
  • Throughly cleaned
  • Arches sprayed with Chemical guys 'bare bones'
  • Painted visible rust with hammerite smooth black (I opted only to do the fronts as the rears already are painted, just its in a silver/grey rather than black, I may change this in the future just not sure yet)
  • Re-fit wheels with new TPI wheel bolts
  • Repeat with the other 3 wheels!

A few things I noticed today:

The coilovers are corroded a bit on the body, they are fine functionally, just visually not very impressive look - I know ohlins have had this issue also (foxy had it on his megane)
The callipers - I bloody wish I had them painted from factory, they look ok but just can't beat that finish the factory gets.
The wheels need re-painting... They are ok for now but I will want them refurbished perhaps next year (or in 3 years if my name is jimmy)
Bloody pressure washer packed in

A few pics - didnt take many as its not too exciting!

(Note: 1, its a daily. and 2. its so low I can't get anything in there other than a pressure washer to clean the arches!)

Tomorrow I will be:

Full exterior clean
Full interior clean including "pear'ing" the seats
Sealing wheels + Tyres

So there will be some better full pictures tomorrow

Hope the weather is good for you tomorrow mate! I'm aiming for a full wash, clay and wax tomorrow so I've got all my fingers and toes crossed that Manchester can give me a bit of sunshine :uk:

Sod's law, it's going to rain for the sole reason that you've left the washing out :tearsofjoy:

Should be interesting for me tomorrow having never waxed a car before, I'm sure it will be a learning experience!

Really?

Piece of piss mate

Just apply a thin layer and I try to apply it in the direction air moves over the car, but some apply it in circular motions! Leave it for a period of time (will say on tub) and buff off with a MF. Stand back and admire the shine!

Thanks for the advice mate, appreciate it! :thumb:

Would I need to wax the gloss black front bumper sections? Or does that require some sort of special wax or something

What wax you have?

There are some waxes that have oils in them to aid bringing out warmth in some colours and make darker colours deeper for example.

If its just a normal carnauba then you can apply it to most painted surfaces!
