I don't have one yet... but I will soon hopefully

Hi All,

I have been a member on the forum for a little while now, but have just been reading all the great content and keeping quiet. I thought it was about time that I introduced myself.

I currently own a Mercedes A250 Sport 'Engineered by AMG'

I wanted an A45 but I couldn't afford one ha ha. I bought my current car as I convinced myself that I needed to buy something sensible. It's been a great car but after owning it for a year and half, I have come to conclusion that I'm too young to drive a sensible car. Plus I'm looking to release some of the money to help fund a house purchase.

I quickly settled on a Clio RS MK IV as I want something that will be okay to drive to London a couple of times a week, but I could potentially track at the weekends. I kinda fell in love with the way they looked when I saw them racing at a BTCC race. Plus I miss having a car that I can modify and tinker with on the weekends. This will be my second Renault, I had a Clio WIlliams 2 back in the day and loved that car!

So the Merc is up for sale and I'm on the look out for my new stead.

Welcome!
I used to sell Merc's until 2009, so I know how nice any model can be with an AMG kit thrown on it.
Fingers crossed you can sell and pick up a good deal on a 200T. The 220 Trophy's are going for around the £15-16k mark at the mo, so do plenty of homework!
No doubt you have read through @Chris thread with his 200T - we will no doubt look forward to reading your progress thread when you find the right car.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I have indeed. It has got me massively excited to get the car.

Welcome aboard mate

Any questions feel free to fire away!

Any colour/spec you have in mind?

Thanks Dude. Well after reading your thread and seeing some of your pictures, as well as seeing both white and LY in person last weekend, for me it has to be LY. I don't like the red and find having a black car soul destroying, as you find a new scratch every time you clean it. Silver looks alright but you hardly see any for sale. As for spec, I'd like to find one with everything, but that seems highly unlikely from what I've seen. Not bothered about leather, great if I can get it, but I may change the seats to something a bit more bucket like. Would like everything else, apart from the CUP pack. I am going to be changing the suspension anyway - I got a great deal on a second hand Scorpion exhaust and some springs which came with it, which have been sitting in my garage since before Christmas.

The max I want to spend is £13K, so I just want to get the best car for the money.

Yeah I was in pretty much the identical situation - I only wanted LY, I test drove a white one and whilst it was nice, it had to be LY on this shape clio, just brings it out for me - not important for some!

Yes the right car is not easy to find - I was lucky with mine as it has everything apart from the camera and the cup pack - equally unimportant to me as I changed the suspension like you are going too do - although most of the cars are specd with the cup pack as it was a cheap extra.. The leathers are nice, but not rivalled to buckets if your going to be regularly tracking the car, they are lovely in the winter though as they are heated - but it was a £1600 extra so its rare to find one with them...

I saw that exhaust and springs - I asked him if he would split but he never got back to me.

@Jay's Eye View were are you based

I was watching them on eBay and they didn't sell the two times he listed them. So made him an offer and luckily he accepted. I'm not sure about the springs, I had my mind set on coilovers. But I am going to throw them on and give them a try when I get the car. I want to fit buckets because I feel the car should have come with them anyway. Having said that, the seats in the facelift are really nice and if they looked like that I wouldn't change them. I was surprised how supportive and comfortable the standard seats are.

Didn't realise they had changed the seats in the facelift tbh..

You don't mean the trophy seats?

The Mercs a lovely car.

Especially if your 73, retired, live in Swindon, wear a flat-cap and read the financial times for fun.

You've clearly realised there's life in the old dog yet. So i wish you the best of luck in your quest to brighten up your garage

BTW: I'm not exactly a Spring-Chicken either !
