**Clio 197/200 Race Car Build**

Thought I'd start a build thread on our own clio race car build, have done previous build threads to success and also spurs us on slightly, so here gos...

For the first part its going to be very much a catch up as I am around 4 months into the build and will be pretty difficult to go over the whole lot again, will take bloody ages apart from anything!! But alas i will update as regular as possible although its taking so much longer due to work taking over, even though its sat staring at me in the workshop day in day out in pieces! Im bound to miss lots so any questions please ask!

anyway..the car! Its an 06 clio RS 197, condition wasnt really an issue upon searching for one although we actually manged to snap one up for a decnt price in pretty decent condition, only issue was a crunch into 3rd gear which didnt concern me as it was being swapped out for a sadev st75-14 sequential box anyway!

The main aim is to get the car as light as physically possible, cup cars are heavy, i want this car to be lighter, faster and much better than any cup car!

So, fibreglass doors, bootlid, bonnet, and even a front bumper and headlight blanks were purchased, along with a full window kit from plastics4performance!!

then it went for its cage..thanks to Tylah Motorsport.

Its an exact rep of a matter cage albeit right hand drive and fully welded!

It went from the cage fabricators straight to paint..

Even got the doors and bootlid done so as the inside is all one colour..

I was going to have the exterior wrapped, hence not being painted months ago with the interior but have since decided against so will be painted very shortly!!
 
I then set about the plumbing, what we do best :wink:

the initial plan was to sort the inside, get it to regs and then sort exterior/engine but as most of you know, these builds never go to plan!!

brake lines, bias valve and line lock (not pictured but is now added and you will see in a few pics/updates to come..) installed..

Like the rear light however the edges of the diamond grooves are showing? Couldn't you have filled it and smoothen it up? Sorry it's my OCD kicking in:smile:

So...the engine!

spec wise its not too far from standard for now apart from throttle bodies and cat cam 5504403 cams, has alo had all new gaskets, pumps, dephaser and belts changed! Plan is to get out and do some testing as is and then do a higher spec build, forged rods/pistons big valve mental head work on solids, dry sumped etc.

The bodies are jenvey 48mm itbs on a custom manifold..

I have a custom rad and header tank made especially by mocal for me..

all water ways converted to take wiggins fittings and clamps, as is the header tank. No silicone hoses on this car!!

and of course, littered with ProGold hoses! Absolutely love how flexible, ultra lightweight and good looking these hoses are, we went for the htp (high temp polymer).

Nearly forgot the electrics/dash situation...

so the original plan was to have a cup car dash and centre pod converted to rhd, this prooved pretty difficult and after wasting a few weeks sending it to various companies for copying, I gave up amd sourced this..

you may have noticed the racetechnology dash2 pro dash display, a full car and engine loom will be made from fresh, ridding every single last renault wire in the car, that was all binned along time ago!!
