Project 111 is born

Excellent job mate, really really nice.

It's a completely different thing to drive than the clio isn't it? Not as fast surely but that steering feel!!!

Keep the pics coming mate:smile:

Cheers guys.

It's a totally different car to drive than the Clio. The megged beast was quicker in a straight line but the speed the lotus can carry through the corners is unreal. Plus's being so low gives a better feel of speed so it doesn't really feel slower.

As Ben points out it is a road legal go kart. The whole experience from getting Into it, strarting it up, hearing the engine behind your head and driving is like being in a racing car which makes the little impracticalities like getting in and out and nowhere to put anything worth it.

The best mods so far are the short shift kit and the uprated gear linkage bushes. The gear change before was very long and loose but now has a much better an positive feel.

Apart from the plastidip the exhaust is by far the best addition. There were many options available but nothing that took my eye as I wanted to make a feature of the exhaust and rear end. After many emails and phone calls with Jim from 2bular we come up with a design and it was delivered within a week. The sound it produces is incredible, as it's coking up its starting to pop quite a bit. Don't think it will pass a trackday test though.

Aww come on folks the car was sprayed in the equivalent of a garden shed as much as i like Rob!!

no prep work and no expense spent!!

If this was anybody elses thread it would be slated to fook

There was a substantial amount of prep work done on the car to get it ready for the process in the weeks leading up to spray day, apologies for not taking enough photos for you. Fortunately Plastidipping doesn't necessitate the use of a spray booth or the spending of vast quantities of cash to get a good job.

Certainly don't think anyone else would get slated for Plastidipping their car either. The finish is surprisingly good and I'm happy with it so that's all that matters. Time will tell how durable it is but the car will be getting new carbon clams next spring anyway.

Not a huge fan at the moment, but hard to be overly critical from a few pictures without seeing it in the flesh. Not a fan of the matte on matte look either, I personally think matte on gloss would have looked better.

Are the wheels staying white?

Looking forward to seeing it finished though.

Always new it would be a marmite thing with the Matte finish. The engine cover and the access panels will be glossy carbon soon. I'm looking at doing the short roof conversion which is just changing the roll bar hoop. Thinking that will be carbon too and with a gloss black or carbon hard top it'll really make a difference to the look of the car.

The alloys will stay white for a while. Just looking at what alloys are available but no doubt they will be black when I change them.

Once I'm happy with look of the car and before new clams go on id like to get it on some coilovers and maybe upgrade the brakes further.

Come on now Angel you don't consider getting in and out of a Lotus as an impracticality do you? On the contrary I always loved the ritual, that you have to go in in a specific way etc, especially when you are trying to show a girl with a skirt how to do it, priceless!

Now, are you running a different suspension setup mate? Because the stock setup (bilsteins) is really compliant which is a good thing, but it's soft as a trade off and the body roll is quite noticeable, not to mention that with the stock front tyres (175) it understeers like crazy so it really can't be faster - not even on the corners - that your ex Clio. It might feel faster though:wink:

Lol. I have mastered the art of entry. Unfortunately Caroline can only get in and out with the roof off.

The car has new dampers and springs all round. The receipts that came B with the car show them to be the uprated bilsteins from Eliseparts. There Is no body roll as such and I've found it very hard on B roads.

As mentioned the Clio was definitely quicker in a straight line but it does carry more speed in some of my favourite local corners.

Hows them new springs and dampers on the derbyshire roads Angel, was up there this weekend in the clio and they are absolutely shocking.

some roads are really bad. Even in the Clio with the collies on the softest setting they were to harsh.
