Thoughts on k-tec

I've never used them for mapping , miles away from me , I've read many a post about them , as far as I can read ( between the lines ) is there work is ok if not good , but there rollers give a very unrealistic reading ? Huge gains etc , then took to another rr and the figures are a lot less , don't be worried about figures , look at the map , you want a safe useable remap , no det , etc , and if your happy well that's what matters , they have to be half decent as they have been around a while . You will never keep every one happy ,

Lots of topics in here about this so try a search. Personally I had mine mapped by them in January and happy with the results. Yes my figures are quite high from them but I'm yet to put it on another set of rollers. The map in General seems very good.

I took my old 197 to Ktec for a map a was very surprised by my gains, apparently it was only producing 176bhp before and 194bhp after. Did seem to good to be true, Never had the chance to dyno it again before selling however if I'm honest I was very happy with the map, defiantly a slight power gain, drivability was improved and flat spot was minimal. Keep in mind I had a pre cat delete pipe, decat and miltek cat back. Plus had the crackle map the installed so got some impressive zorst flames too.

Knowing how they have treated certain members on this site I wouldn't touch them with anyone else's car let alone mine.

Or

Steve,C SC autos guy builds most of the monster Meg conversions and know the cars inside out :thumbup1: ask MikeH about the work hes just had done

They're good for parts and delivery etc. and they did an engine conversion for me a few years back with fantastic workmanship and professionalism.

Never used their maps and I have heard bad things from a few close friends too.

I not far from Ktec did all my work never had no problems did my map had no probs with it lost my power run so may have to put on rollers again

Only ever read bad things about the maps from Ktec and very good reviews about RS Tuning, hence when the meg was mapped i wanted a top job so it was worth travelling to Leeds (from south london)

Don't any oof you lads use people like Andy Forrest , , or Dave Rowe ? Paul balmier etc , all top tuners and mappers , just google them , if there good enough for 1250 bhp skylines evos etc , good enough for me

There's two things why i would't...

For me you only have too look at the gains k-tec claim to get from there maps is what puts me off. either the rollers read high ( but not on standard run ) or the figures are messed with...

Plus ive heard one or two stories on bad customer service which puts me off.

my car went there last year for a service, new rear brakes and a remap and it all seems fine and i haven't noticed anything bad with my car and they all seem like nice people. granted I'm not sure i believe them with my power output but the car drives ok so don't mind. am going there next week so will see what they are like again.

Ashton will tell you all about their "Customer Service"

I'm off down there next month so will feed back, the old man's had his Meg mapped there and air box modified and it's running sweet at the moment. Again did show
huge gains off the rollers but then is isn't N/A like the Clio's.

Another topic on ktec and the negative posts as always boasting a suspicious lack of any facts...

I haven't used them, but as they are very local I was considering getting, gearbox oil, clutch bleed and geo done there in the next week or so. Anybody got any actual facts and reasons why I shouldn't go there for those jobs (haven't even got a quote yet mind and might be stupid money)? PM if must but any quantifiable facts should surely be ok to state in the public domain?

Thanks.
